I was concerned about the shininess of the finish, but the crackle glaze showed through and made that feature look softer. The base of the lamps is smaller than the actual lamp, giving them a very graceful curve while using less table space than I anticipated. I did return the lamps, having bought something that suited the room even better and found customer service at Lamps Plus to be excellent.
