Excellent value, nice features for an inexpensive watch.
This is the third Casio watch of this type that I have purchased over the years. Each has been the same basic watch with different cases and faces and each has lasted me about 6-7 years. I especially like this one as it has the features I really like but the black face makes it much easier to see the time in the dark when using the internal light. The white hands against the black background make a nice contrast versus my previous watch with silver hands against a white background. I am an adherent of the analog method of telling time but appreciate that I can use the digital readout to check time in another time zone as well as keep track of the date. And I much prefer the style of the round case of this watch vs. the semi-rectangular version of the same version that I had prior to this one. To be honest I don't really use any of the other features so can't make an educated analysis of them. If the features I've already mentioned were all this watch had to offer I'd still buy it over and over again, Thanks Casio for keeping it in production so long. The only somewhat negative point I have to say about it is resetting the analog part of the watch (the hands) is NOT terribly intuitive and I find myself having to consult the manual EVERY TIME we go into or out of Daylight Savings Time. This is more of a minor inconvenience than anything else as the instructions to do so are easy to follow, I say again, as long as they keep producing this watch I will keep buying them when I need to.

Great Watch
Great watch, attractive, accurate +2 seconds per month, easy to see analog time at night with backlight, lots of digital functions, okay to shower with, comfortable to wear, light weight, not pretentious. The long life, 10-year battery is a plus; replacement batteries are inexpensive. I store phone numbers in the data bank, for the day my cellphone is lost. Like the perpetual calendar no need to reset the date on the first day of the month. World time, countdown timer, alarm and stopwatch functions are nice to have. Analog hands are good for checking the time at a glance. The digital display is big enough to read easily, like that it displays day, month and date simultaneously. All this for less than dinner.Acrylic crystal will scratch but Poly Watch removes scratches easily. I purchased six inexpensive Casio watches this year and this is the most unique and my favorite. I have owned Casio watches since the 1980s. I like that Casio is innovative and not constrained by the watch designs of the past.

Good Looking Analog-Digital Watch with lots of features
This watch is a lot better looking in-person than int he official photos. And it's got all the regular Casio features: alarms, stopwatch etc. plus a charming phone number storage feature from yesteryear. The analog hands and digital time are set separately, so in theory you could have them be different, though in addition you've got a second digital world time accessible to you.The only negatives worth mentioning are Casio's insistence on making the casing resin instead of metal, the pain of adjusting the metal band and for me, it's a little on the small side for reading the minute indices. But overall, this little watch is a worthwhile addition to an affordable collection and just for daily use.

So far, so great!
I've been wearing this watch for several weeks now and I'm extremely happy with it. In truth, I bought it only because my regular Casio watch needs repairing and I didn't want to be without a watch meanwhile. That said, now I've started wearing it, and gotten used to it, I'm not in any particular hurry to get the other watch fixed. So, what's so good about it? Well, it's dirt cheap, of course, it has loads of functions and it isn't unattractive either. Sure, you'll definitely need to refer to the manual (ideally the downloadable PDF version) to figure out how to operate it or, at least, to get the most out of it, so if you find that bothersome maybe you should stick with something simpler that tells you the time and not much else. The links in the stainless steel bracelet are not the easiest to remove, but fortunately there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will show you how it can be done using nothing more complex than a wire nail and a pair of pliers. On the other hand, because of the flat, spade-shaped pins used, they're likely to be much more stable over time and not simply fall apart like those links that are held together with needle-shaped pins. Two things I've found especially useful are the memo/phone number storage (invaluable if you don't have your phone with you) and the illumination button that displays the watch face rather than the LCD window. Obviously, the ideal situation would be to illuminate both, but as I'm not always wearing my glasses when I want to check the time in the dark, this arrangement works better for me than watches where only the LCD window is illuminated. That's because, without wearing glasses, even when they're lit up I can't read those small LCD figures anyway! The bottom line is, at this price, and with a 'ten year' battery thrown in, you can't really go wrong. Certainly, everyone to whom I've shown it thus far has been impressed with its value for money.

Is it better than a Seiko?
I've worn Seiko watches for years - something like 50 years. Ones I had to wind, ones that wound themselves, ones that got their power from the sun ... but eventually it was me that got wound down. This Casio AW80 says it has a ten year battery and I hope I'll be around to find out if it does or not. My old brain has had to get out the manual to reset the DST / Standard time, but it does nicely about knowing the correct number of days per month and even resetting over leap year. I'm impressed and it takes something for a watch to impress me.The only point I dislike is that the light isn't bright enough to see the hands of the analog or the digits of the digital clocks ... if I want to know what time it is at night I have to turn on an external light.Oh, is it better than a Seiko? I'll let you know in 10 years so far it's as good.

Make Sure You Get the Black Watch-Face--the silver one can't be seen at night.
I bought my first version of this beauty 3 years ago, and it has been quite good. However, there were two problems that ate away at me slowly over that time. First, was that it was a little too small. I am a fat man, and even with all of the links in, I still had to extend it a little by attaching another older watchband clasp over top of this one's to get a few more millimeters out of it. I had looked around for just an extra link to buy, but that is not available anywhere that I could find. The second problem was that my original model had the silver watch face, and it was very difficult to see the hands in the dark despite both the glow-in-the-dark hands and using the light button. It could be done, but it was a real pain in the you know what. I finally committed myself to biting the bullet and getting a whole new watch to solve the band size problem, figuring I would just buy a new one and add one of my old links to it. While I was shopping around, I came across this beauty with the black watch face and I thought to myself, "perhaps the difficulty in seeing the time in the dark was due to the hands and the watch face both being the same color, but a black background might make it actually easier to see." For 18 bucks, I figured, what have I got to lose? So I ordered it off Amazon and sure enough, all my problems were solved. This is a Great Watch with tons of cool and useful features. And the price is great (I paid $30 for my first one at Kohl's). If they keep making it, I will never buy anything else!

Good functioning watch, but very cheap...
I bought this [bargain] watch for work, as I work out of a truck all day and my watches get banged up pretty good. I wanted a cheap watch that I would get upset about if I broke it, but I wanted it to still look somewhat decent. I've had good luck with store bought casio watches in the past (mainly because I can look at them in person first), but I honestly never would have bought this thing if I had seen it first hand before purchasing. This watch looked nice in the photo, unfortunately it is very cheap looking and very cheap feeling. I realize this is only a ~$20 watch, but I've owned better quality watches in this price range before (including other Casio watches).About the build/material quality; The description/specs state that it has a stainless steel case and a stainless steel band. Unfortunately the case is 100% plastic. The front of the case is made to look like metal, but is clearly plastic up close, and is easily verified if scratched. The back of the case is just a plain grey plastic (which is the same plastic as the front of the case if the coating gets scratched off). The battery cover that screws onto the back is however metal, and says "stainless steel back" on it, so I'll give them that one. The dial has a grey plastic ring around it (yep, you guessed it, the same grey plastic that's all over his thing). The dial itself, which is described as "mineral" (and when clicked, it is further described as "mineral crystal") which Amazon states "is composed of several elements that are heat-treated to create an unusual hardness that helps resist scratches. I wish that were true, but this thing scratches if I look at it the wrong way! I have not hit the watch against anything [yet], but it somehow has lots of scratches all over it after only a week of wearing it. The band itself is all metal, but is so lightweight that it feels (and looks) like aluminum. It looks as if the outer edges of each link are aluminum and the folded center parts is either aluminum as well, or a low grade stainless steel.About the functionality; After reading that you must think I hate this watch!... but I don't. I like the analog + digital display, and the digital part has some cool features. The TeleMemo30 is a neat feature that lets you store up to 30 name+number entries. While tedious to program, it is actually a very useful feature for storing important phone numbers (which could be a lifesaver if you lose or break your phone). I have 2 gripes with it; first it only lets you store a number in the second field of each entry (I wish it would allow alphanumeric in both fields which would allow non-numeric passwords to be stored as something other than the title of the entry). My other gripe is that while the watch has a 2-line display, it only uses the top line for the TeleMemo, and you have to press a button to switch back and forth between the first and second fields in each entry (why doesn't it display them both at the same time? one on top of the other?). It has some other features that are nice, but I'll probably never use, like world time, alarm, stopwatch, and countdown timer. It seems to keeps time just fine (although I haven't owned it long enough to really verify it's accuracy. The analog and digital time is programmed separately, and could be programmed to display two different times if for some reason you wished it to do that. You can also switch between 12 hour and 24 hour digital time, which I personally find quite useful as we use military time at work so I always keep it on the 24 hour setting.Bottom Line; This watch looks cheap, and feels cheap, but it functions well and will do the job it's meant to do just fine. I would still buy another Casio watch, because i like the features, but I will spend a little more next time for a model that is made with better materials. Hope this helps..

Great watch but there's a catch-22
Well, I've actually had possession of the watch for a little over two hours now. That's how long it took me to get the basic settings (time, day and date), both analog and digital, set up. It might have taken another two hours had I not thought of a brilliant solution to the primary problem. Ha!The primary problem is that the little manual which comes with it requires a microscope to read. It's a fat little book (which has been bent in half to make it even more difficult, almost impossible, to handle) Size-wise it will easily fit into the watch pocket of your Levis. Plus, the watch IS complicated, or at least it seems so when you first get it.The solution is this: [...]That's the online manual for the Casio Module 2747. Thank God I thought of searching for it online! Once I had that up on the screen with the watch in my hands it became quite simple! So I struggled for a couple hours first, had three beers, then thought of and found the online manual, and within 5 minutes had this little sucker set up. I saved the manual to my pooter for learning how to do the many other things this little jewel does. (I'm sure that somewhere inside there's a setting for managing your 401K, ordering a pizza, whatever.)But, yeppers, I'm giving this watch a five star rating already. The only thing it has to do at this point is go the distance, and I suspect it will -- ten years. After all, it's a Casio! It's extremely good looking, easy to read and fits perfectly. It's built like a Sherman tank and I'm sure it'll "take a beating and keep on ticking!"It's an outright steal for this price. In my humble opinion it would be a good deal at $50!

Bello
Consigliato.
