Ample cushion space, and sturdy. The cushions are made of a suede material, and can be brushed clean, but they are very stiff, but comfortable. I guess that's ok if you want them to retain their shape. They should last quite awhile. They have levelers on the front legs if you need to adjust them. Nicely stained with a medium color, not too dark or light. The underside of the chairs are painted a flat black color. All in all very happy with the purchase. One last thing. The chairs are manufactured in Vietnam.

A: 17.5 inches

**Q: ScotchGuard? Any one ever try it on this fabric?**
A: I have never ScotchGuard mine, they still look like new. I take a damp rag on the seats if anything is spilled or dropped on them, they wipe right off.

**Q: Are these stack able for storage?**
A: Technically no, they would scratch.

**Q: how long can you sit on this without discomfort? how is the comfort level for your back on this?**
A: Comfort is much about personal preference, but I can tell you that I have lower back issues and find most dining chairs uncomfortable. These are better than most for me. I like the angle of the backrest, and the cushions are firm enough that you don't just sink through them onto the wood. If you have doubts you might try one set first before ordering more.
