I grew up with box graters and hate them. I have been using pre-shredded cheese for years but decided I didn't want to eat anti-caking agents anymore, so I decided to try and find a cheese grater I didn't hate. That's how I ended up with this product. I did a lot of research and this was highly rated and I can tell why. First of all, it makes so much more sense to run the grater over the cheese as opposed to the cheese onto the grater. I found it to be completely sturdy and easy to use. I love how small it is, so it is easy to store. It also cleans so easily in the dishwasher. Great value for money. I'm thinking about buying another.

This is an excellent quality grater. It is has a nice weight to it and a nice shape. I actually use it to grate a little bit of fels-naptha laundry bar soap into the drum of my washer for the extra stinky/sweaty loads. I was looking for a grater that was less than 11"-12" so I could fit it nicely in the small basket of laundry supplies I have, and this is just about the only shorter one I could find. It does the job well and I'm sure it would perform just well on hard cheeses. It feels very substantial in your hand and it is quite satisfying to use.

Easy to use and grates very well works on cold butter too This is made very well and is so easy to grate of block cheese like parmesan. Also works well on butter that just came from the refrigerator to cut a thin slice and put on toast.

Very convenient if you don’t need to shred a huge amount.

The grater works well for small jobs that I needed. The pieces that are grated is just right size. There is one small area where the cheese is difficult to clean. Overall good product.

Very good for hard cheese

This little grater is just the right size and very sturdy. However, the graters are very dull, necessitating a lot of push to get the cheese to grate. Not sure why others think that it's sharp.

I didn't know this kind of grater existed and wanted to try it out because I like this type of cheese slicer. It works well, is sturdy, easy to use and, most importantly, easy to clean. I don't like cleaning box graters, especially the inside. Really the only downside vs a box grater is that you only get one choice of hole size. I would say this makes small to medium thickness strands. If you need thick ones or a variety then it would be better to get a box grater. It would be nice if Boska made a version with big holes too.
