Compact little powerhouse.
I'm old enough to remember mp3 players that could hold very little, maybe 10 songs at best. We've come such a long way from that, but I've never stopped collecting music on my own rather than streaming because I like being able to take my music everywhere, truly, so finding a semi old school mp3 player to replace my failing ipod was a necessity. I think that's what I like most about this player: no touch screens, no apps, just the music. The FiiO looks really sleek, feels very stylish to look at, and packs a great sound. Admittedly the UI does leave a lot to be desired, it's a bit clunky upon opening it right from the box, but honestly, the ease of everything else makes this forgiveable. Plugged it right into my computer and was able to start copying a huge chunk of my library right away. I have not tried the Bluetooth so I'm not sure how well that works, but it sounds great with regular wired headphones/IEMs. Very happy with it.

Sounds good, but terrible UI
The sound is really good using wired headphones (if I wanted Bluetooth I'd just use my phone). It's a decent size, although I kind of wish it was bigger (glad I didn't get one of the small versions). The buttons feel nice and responsive and it has a good weight to it that makes it feel quality. Battery is decent for a device this small. The main problems come from UI. Apparently you can't just plug it into your computer and drag and drop files, which is something my first MP3 player could do a quarter century ago. Luckily I had an SD card reader available. There's no playing queue which would be nice to queue up multiple songs /albums. It doesn't respect song numbering which makes several albums I have not good to listen to as they're meant to play in order. And several other nitpicks. I'm still glad I bought it as it's good when I don't want to be connected to the internet.

Nice music player but some drawback
I am giving it five stars because for the price you pay for this little guy, it blows the competition out of the water. The device feels high quality, the UI is okay but it moves snappy. Takes a while to scroll through your music, unfortunately. The battery life is good, music is high quality, and the screen size is perfect. The size is perfect in the hand and easily fits in the pocket. I wish they would add support for gapless playback and a way to move through the artist or song list quicker, but it is a $70 DAP. What do you expect? I really would like to have a way to favorite artists and albums too, but you can only favorite songs. I really like the player and I am glad I bought it.

Great Hi-Res And DAP!
It is a Great Hi-Res Digital Audio Player from Fiio/Snowsky. Great sound and love the interface with great quality construction. It has 5.4 Bluetooth connectivity and the controls are simple to get used to. As long as you buy the MicroSd Card you are set for storage and it is very reliable due to the support from the manufacturer.

Something I really want to like
I want to really like this device. It has a lot of things that I look for in a dap but also some glaring problems. Pros: -Great design and pretty decent build quality. The retro look and feel really do shine. The size and weight is also around where I want it to be. Some Daps can be huge bricks and that is a bit much. -Okay battery life. It isn't as good as I thought it would be but it's fine. -Sound is okay as well. It works for me. Cons: -Physical design. I need all the basic functions as physical buttons. This is the biggest problem for me. The song change and volume control are the same. You tap the button to change volume and hold to change songs. If you do not hold long enough to change songs, you will get stuck on volume change and will have to wait a couple of seconds for it to reset. This is a huge problem for me. I really do like to have my volume change and song change available. I am trying my best to get past this and it's going okay but I think this is the biggest set back for me. -UI is pretty lackluster. This is expected for this type of software but it is something to note. If you wish to navigate and customize, it will take some time and patience. Overall this is a well priced device. It's pretty cheap and does the job for the most part. The design is charming. If only they included the proper physical buttons, I would be estatic for this device.

It's Alright
Nice little gimmick, battery life is pretty short, bluetooth can be a little weird when trying to connect, storage is small so you need a mirco sd just make sure you read the what size of mirco sd it can take. It's pretty easy to use if you read the manuel or just mess around with it, but there's one issue I have with it; It seems to play songs without any audio coming through the connected device which makes me have to mess around with both the mp3 and bluetooth device.

Echo disappointment
This was a player I had high hopes for. I own an older FiiO that has great sound and is very versatile in its options. But it is no longer taking a charge the way it used to. I read good things about the Echo via several reviews. But was met with great disappointment when I got the unit and it started freezing when it played to each folder. It would find one and stop, lock up and shut off. I ran into this problem repeatedly through the night I tested it. Even inserting other micro sd's from other units into it, with the same result. So I sent it back to Amazon, Very disheartening. I know it has good sound and is a well made unit but additionally, I found it needed a higher volume to power my earbuds.

Back to owning music [Update Apr 9th]
Fiio Echo Software Version:1.2.0 IEM used with Fiio Echo - moondrop dusk with 4.4 tripowin altea cable. Review at the bottom. Update regarding Bluetooth: (System setting 6th tab, Bluetooth toggle, Enable) Regarding Bluetooth I recommend you pair it to speakers first to have it listed. Afterwards, first check the echo if it have Bluetooth enable (you can see it blink on the top right on the screen of the BT icon). Then turn off your echo. Turn on your BT speakers letting it search for devices. Next turn on your echo it should pair and music should be playing. Note: disabling and reenabling BT during initial use - The echo won't emit music to the speakers. Likely due to it not switching protocols. It "paired" but still plays as "wired". You gotta enable BT, turn off echo. Also turn off bt speakers then turn on bt speakers. To turn on echo. I was able to pair 2 Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth Speaker (2nd Gen) [need to only pair to one speaker while stereo mode (2 speakers) is by clicking on the "ripple button" on the first then 2nd speaker then 1st speaker. Wanna do this first) ] Tips (review at bottom) For the volume button swap issue : it been addressed in the recent software update found on fiio website (extract file on PC or phone then place it on echo internal be sure to remove your micro SD card beforehand). [Gear, go 5 down to language, set to English (as it revert language back to native)] For loop Setting & shuffle: Go to Music Setting,go 2 down to loop setting, repeat. Repeat all is sequential play but goes again after finishing a album, loop once is repeat the same song currently in play, sequential play is in order of song in album, shuffle play shuffle the songs depending on if you had selected the song through a album, favorite, artist or all. So you can shuffle your songs. How Echo Behaves on a PC: when plug into a PC either USB a to C or C to C cable it gives a prompt for USB Data or USB DAC (it doesn't need to be fully on beforehand to display the prompt) if you don't select anything after a few seconds it select the recent option you used previously. USB data display 2 paths on the PC being the internal and external storage (micro SD card). USB DAC uses the echo as a output device. How I layout music: Create Artist name Folder then inside of folder create album folder afterwords place your songs into album folder through file explorer on a PC. I use MusicBee software to edit song files to include artist and album name on the song file itself before moving it onto the echo. (You can highlight all the song files inside musicbee software to edit at the same time but renaming songs is one at a time on file explore). Additionally some song like expedition 33 need to be resample to 44.1k to be useable on echo. [Leftclick drag to highlight song files, right-click , send to, format converter]. You can do artist - album - song as the song name where the echo assign it to a psudo folder through echo without needing to create folders but makes media library refresh longer. Review: I love the retro feel of using the echo with the physical buttons and layout of the device. It takes some time to get used to how to navigate but got the hang of it after a few days. Moving music files onto the echo is straight forward so you don't need to remove the micro SD card when wanting to add or remove songs. Found myself listening to the entire album. You can pick and choose songs but the operating system of the echo leans on listening to one artist, one album or one genre, favorites or all. Honestly, found the experience nice. There are other mp3 players that would allow more streamline selecting functionality but limiting it just makes you take a step back and you start to appciate the different songs a single artist makes in a single album or multiple. Would have liked gapless hopefully in the next version of echo but not too bothered without it. The battery life on the echo last a long time for being a small mp3 player as well charges quickly for its price. Listening to expedition 33 ost(formatted to WAV 44.1k sample) / other wav/flac song on low gain , 50% audio, fast roll off. Got around ~10-11 hours of playback.

Sehr guter undvielseitiger Player
Super Teil!

It is half done project
Stupid menu system. Cheap buttons. Slow operating speed. F***d up volume operation logic. Ridiculous animation speed. Bluetooth connection is unreliable. Some supperted lossles file you can't play and it freezes the system which shuts down and restarting by itself. It sounds good, loud but quality. Aluminimum housing, looks sturdy. I rather use my phone to listen music than this, because that is more faster. I regret, but I am planning to use as a home hifi, maybe for longer time it can be good...I don't know. I don't recommend.

unpractical Small screen
This is so unpractical! The screen is tiny and the font is completely unreadable. Even as a young person, I couldn't use it.
