<<Update>> After 3.5 years of near daily use, the stitching on the Neoprene strap gave out. The fabric peeled away to expose the foam inside. I brought the hand-grip module in to my local cobbler and had them fashion a leather strap, with a Velcro closure, as a replacement. Now that the leather has broken in, the grip is working just as well as when I first bought it. <<Overview>> I recently began playing a Schilke ST-20 with Hagmann valve. The horn is substantially heavier than the Benge 190F I had been playing. After several hours of playing the Schilke, my hand began cramping--a feeling I immediately attributed to the horn's weight pulling my left hand counterclockwise. I adjusted the angle of the bell relatively to the slide, but still experienced some cramping. A more drastic solution was needed. I found several trombone support options, including this Neotech grip, the Hagmann brace, the Rath brace and several straps. I initially chose the Neotech grip because of its relatively low price and substantial construction. After several months of use, I can confirm that the Neotech grip is a worthwhile trombone support, offering the support and ease of use demanded from a trombone hand support. <<Support>> Using the Neotech grip, I've gone from from unbearable cramping to sustainable playing. I can't think of a better testimony. <<Ease of Use>> The Neotech grip has several features which make it very easy to use: --Static position of the support. Unlike strap supports, you don't have to tension the grip or catch it in motion. This makes it easy to remove and insert your hand while playing. I can easily remove my hand to turn pages, insert mutes, etc. and slide my hand back into place. --Tool-less removal for storage. The Neotech grip comes in two parts, a hand grip and a slide brace. The hand grip easily releases from and engages to the slide brace with a twisting motion. The slide brace lays flat so I can store the slide without incident. <Setup> Installation is easy, although potentially time consuming. There are two stages of installation. First, you have to install the slide brace--this is an easy process. The slide brace comes with variously sized pads to create a custom fit against the slide, protecting the slide from damage and preventing the grip from moving during use. Second, you have to position the hand grip. This second step requires more time, because you will likely have to experiment to find the most comfortable position for your trombone. Still, I give Neotech credit for designing the grip with many position options, including multiple angles. <<Aesthetic>> This is the only category where the Neotech is lacking. Other supports better fit the brass aesthetic of the trombone. The Neotech grip projects an exercise equipment look, which definitely stands out when the trombone is sitting on a stand. When playing, however, the grip is covered by the player's hand and only the strap is visible. Perhaps a leather strap would be a nice upgrade. <<Conclusion>> Ultimately, I am not terribly concerned about the look of the grip. I am overwhelmingly pleased with the grip's function. It allows me to play for an indefinite amount of time and doesn't get in the way of playing or storing my horn.

This device is the best solution available for spreading the weight off my L thumb and allows more relaxed position holding the trombone. I am 69 and have arthritis in the MC joint (base of the thumb) related to my occupation as podiatrist and surgeon. I have this device on both my 88H and Shires medium bore of F- attachment and would not go without it. I have tried the "thumb S hook" which does not work and Ergobone which is also good but more awkward. Either would be helpful for aging/injured bass or certainly contrabass trombonist!

My teenage daughter recently convinced me to purchase her a trigger trombone. She’s played trombone for four years now and is a solid intermediate player. She’s also in marching band and hasn’t been having any issues. She was able to install the hand grip herself and it seems to be firmly attached. The second she got it on and slid her hand through, she had the BIGGEST smile on her face. She LOVES it. I can’t speak to durability, but I’ll update this review if we have any problems in the next few months. UPDATE: Marching band season is complete and the grip survived without issue! Happy customer. Highly recommend. Will update again if/when we have issues.

I play a 1938 E.K. Blessing. Unlike modern trombones, the slide lock is on the bottom tube and there is a slight interference problem but nothing that is a show stopper. It took a little trial and error to find the right placement and angle. Because there are so many variables with horn design, it's hard for someone to come up with a truly universal design, but this comes pretty close. I have smaller hands so this grip has it's pluses and minuses. The pluses... It takes a lot of the stress off my wrist. It does it's job nicely. The negatives... The bracket that fits in the palm of my hand is bulky and took some getting used to. The design makes it difficult to tighten the locking mechanism that holds the hand slide to the bell section. I had my horn come loose during rehearsal the first night I used it. I just have to be extra careful I get it tight. It interferes with the slide lock on my horn but my horn had the lock on the bottom tube so this should pose no problem for a newer horn. It gets hot and sweaty. The neoprene doesn't breathe. Someone with very large hands may have trouble with the length of the strap. That's what it looks like to me but I don't know as my hands are smaller. Would I buy it again? Not sure. I know there are a couple different hand rests from other companies. I may look into one of those. Overall, I like it and continue to use it as it does what it is supposed to do and helps my playing. 2/18/18 I recently purchased a King 3B and this fits the King with no problems.

I come from the Ax handle/ metal lever type of grip. I was tired of all the weight being in my thumb and wanted a whole hand support Pros: cheap, works very well at solving my issue. Weight no longer hurts my hand. Better than the handle from before and way better than nothing. Cons: the strap rather being Velcro on both sides is friction fit on one side. Meaning my trombone is too heavy and pulls the strap off the brace. The stretchy neoprene means I have to strap it tight every time I play rather than something stiff like leather. When i strap it as tight as I would like. It comes off It also is quite fat in the hand area so it makes my already hard reach for the second valve a little too far away. I also have a very large bass, Bach 50 with thayers. My friend has a small horn with two rotors and he doesn’t have this issue.

So, Neotech is the company that makes the neck straps that every sax player uses, and BTW makes an incredible tuba strap system as well. If you play trigger horn and your left hand cramps up holding the horn, this grip is THE solution. All of 10 minutes to install and adjust to your particular horn and angle that is comfortable. VERY clear instructions, quality build, lots of options to make it fit to your horn. I have a vintage 88h, no sweat. Would easily fit a Back or King slide, probably anything else out there. They've thought this through. Result, very comfortable adjustable strap around your left hand secures your hold, No need for your hand to actually close around the slide. Transfer of weight now eliminates your grip, goes directly to your hand/wrist. Super firm and comfortable, easy to adjust angle and distance so you can easily activate the trigger. Out of the box, I merely shifted one setting, had put in one included shim, and now can't wait for gigs.

I play basd trombone for the orchestra and holding it for a ling time just hurt my hand thus helped so my fingers stoped locking up and lets me freely use both my triggers. Nicely adjustable.

Excellent, adaptable and easy to put on/takeoff for storage. Kit includes a lot of "adapters". Provides excellent support for an older players' wrist. Fiddle with positioning the hand grip onto the mount... it works fabulously. Thank you.

I originally bought the Rath hand brace for my R10... it looks great, but because of the way it attaches to the trombone, it was difficult to use without being frightened of over-tightening, and it kept coming loose. This one is much easier and better, more comfortable and you can un-attach (and re-attach) the handle, when not using, so easier to fit in a case. Also enables you to attach the same grip to multiple trombones which is handy (providing your trombones either have slightly different slides or you buy more attachments). It's also WAY cheaper (I wish I bought this one first).

Habe mir vor einem halben Jahr die Schulter gebrochen und 2 Sehnen angerissen. An Posaune Spielen war erstmal nicht zu denken, nach ein paar Monaten nur mit Schmerzen. Dann fand ich diesen Artikel und seit dem kann ich die Posaune besser und länger halten. Es ist eine große Entlastung für die Schulter. Die Faschingszeit ist gerettet. Die Montage war auch einfach. Mit den mitgelieferten Teilen kann der Artikel gut befestigt werden.
