UPDATE: since the writing of my original review, CSRP Handiwork was kind enough to send me a few kits with updated revised materials, and I’ve since completed the Highland Cow punch needle kit. The contents, packaged in a nice box, are improved as follows: finer, easier to use yarn with appropriate colors, thinner & longer punch needle - love it, better fabric, better scissors … I also checked out the online video, even though audio free, it provided great examples of different stitch techniques to get certain design looks. I’ve also previously watched a few short online utube videos as well. I will note that with the Highland Cow, while I had enough yarn to finish the project, I had to be careful with the lighter brown color & not waste it; may be partly my fault because I did some extra layers of stitching in a few places. I’m very happy with these newly revised kits from CSRP, I appreciate their customer service, & will definitely purchase these fun, cute, & relaxing kits again. I’ve included a few photos to show the colors of the yarns in different lighting. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Sooo … I’m glad this Wolf needle punch kit was not my first kit to try (it was my 2nd); this kit left me frustrated. I’ve worked with many various types of yarns before while knitting, etc., & I believe the included yarn in this kit may be the lowest quality yarn I’ve ever used; it tended to split & came apart too easily. Also, not enough yarn was included for one of the colors. One of the colors included was the wrong color: instead of a golden brown, yellow was included. The yarn was too thick for the project; I couldn’t get the detail as needed (& as pictured online). The yarn was too thick for the needle punch tool, but useable. After spending too much for this kit for what I received, I definitely did not want to go buy my own yarn. The fabric was of low quality, & also not as pictured online. The included scissors would not cut the yarn; I threw that away. The threading tool came apart, but I repaired with my own tape. Luckily, I had already watched punch needle videos on utube, so I was able to make this project work with extra effort. I wanted to do some silk stitches, but they mostly came out when I tried it, & I had to be careful because the punch needle left oversized holes in the fabric, so I needed to get the stitches right the first time as much as possible. The included hoop is a good hoop. I used the plastic needle to drawstring stitch the fabric behind the hoop. I received this item quickly.

Had to return the first one because something was wrong with my punch needle, and it would not allow me to thread it. Instructions don’t make much sense, but YouTube videos helped. I still had to watch multiple videos to figure it out, as not each video contains everything you need to know, like holding a loop in the back of the cloth as you pull the punch needle out will help prevent your stitches from coming undone. Once I got going, it was fun to make. I almost ran out of a couple of the colors before I was done, but I managed to make it work. Be very careful with your yarn as it can start unraveling very easily. Not bad for a beginners kit, though. My stitches are a bit messy, but at least I know what to do better next time.

These punch needles are so cute I did them with my daughters for a thanksgiving day craft they are so easy to use and comes with everything you need

Writing the review as an absolute beginner, so if you already know how to punch needle.. (is punch needle a verb?) then this kit may be more highly rated for you. The kit includes everything it says it does. The printed directions are rough. For example No. 1. "Don't lifted up punch needle before it reached the bottom, make sure the poke needle piercings all the way through." Which, being audhd, i already struggle with reading directions effectively... But when these are the directions, it's even worse. Okay it's okay self, let's just go watch the tutorial on YouTube that it tells you to watch. I go to YouTube and it is a video of someone quickly doing the steps. Which tiny little text you have to pause to read.. Only to have the pause menu on top of said text. I feel really frustrated bc this was meant to be my new stress-relieving, easy hobby. I'm sure once I know how to do it, it will be fine. But as of right now and as it pertains to this kit, I'm really unhappy. There's no instruction about where to punch and why she's punching where she's punching and why she's leaving the amount of space she's leaving. As far as I can tell there will be loops of string sticking out the back? That all you'd have to do is pull the string from the front or back and it would be completely taken apart. Which is whatever and has nothing to do with this particular kit as it does about needle punching in general. But I would be happier if I knew for sure and this was explained. I will search YouTube to find an actual tutorial and won't give up until I know what I'm doing but, as a beginner I wouldn't really recommend. Which disappoints me because this was what I was planning on doing for my kids for Christmas this year. Oh well

Adorable! However, does take some patience and time. Would be difficult for a child without some supervision/ assistance.

Super easy craft with all the supplies you'll need. I'm going to be buying more for a fun way to keep my hands busy.

I purchased this after surgery so I would have something to do while I was recovering unfortunately I’m not great at the punch stitching. The design is absolutely adorable. It seems easy to do and fun to do. I’m just not great at it. I didn’t want my review to reflect my inability to do a craft. I’ve done a lot of counting Crosstitch and other needle work for some reason. I just have a difficult time doing this it still is a great design and I would recommend it for someone who does this type of needle work.
