This IS mainly metal/stainless....VERY LITTLE PLASTIC
I used that title, because a review stating that the oven has very little metal and is mostly plastic almost caused me to NOT buy this product. I am SO glad I bought it. The first one arrived with a damaged/bent corner (although the box appeared to have no damage) and amazon.com made it very painless to return the oven and exchange it for an undamaged one. Second oven, BINGO, was the charm! Total time from first order, to delivery to pick up of damaged oven to arrival of second one: 4 days.I checked this oven with a magnet to make sure that the exterior is metal and the magnet stuck to everything except the stainless front. The only plastic I have found is the top/bottom of the microwave door frame and the handle of the pizza drawer. Well, the interior is plastic, but that's to be expected for MOST micros, so I don't count that at all. This microwave may be a little bit noisy, but I can live with that. I have used the drawer only for toaster belgian waffles a couple of times and heating up quick snack items, but we plan to use it mainly for steak fries, tater tots and heating up pizza slices, so I anticipate it to do exactly what we want it to.As for the microwave, I heated up a big bowl of mashed potatoes today and the "reheat" function worked perfectly. The potatoes came out hotter in 6 minutes' time in this oven than they ever did in my over-stove 1400 watts' microwave! I couldn't believe it.We have remodeled our kitchen and I really wanted a drawer microwave, but no space for one. This toaster drawer/micro combo was a compromise, but now I am very, very happy that I made this purchase. No lost cabinet space for the drawer and the micro fits perfectly in the corner of my counter where my old (ugly) toaster oven used to sit.I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!As for the plastic covering....I do appreciate that others wrote about it. I got a one-edged razor and carefully slid it in the crevices as I pulled the plastic tautly and there are, as a result, no "hanging" plastic remnants. I recommend you be careful in using the razor along the plastic frame, however, for if your blade slips, you will mark the plastic. (I did that on one tiny spot, but I'm the only person that has noticed it so far.)If you are looking for a two-in-one combo., this is the product to purchase. The lower wattage isn't noticeable to me--and like I said earlier, I've had a 1400-watt microwave for years. The item does not get that hot--only on the left side where the vents are, and then not any hotter than my toaster oven got so that's not an issue either. In fact, you won't even notice how hot the toaster is until you actually open the drawer. I lined the tray with aluminum foil while cooking to aid with clean up and it was a breeze. Note: the fan continues to blow after you turn the oven off so it can cool down.Be sure to measure your spot where you are going to put it, though. Mine has exactly 1/2" clearance. I like that in my kitchen b/c it makes it look more custom. And finally--honestly, my old microwave didn't light up (the controls, I mean). I did have a clock, which this one has, that is lighted. The interior lights when you open the door. I love that there is no handle, which is NOT hard to open at all. AND, I love that it has a child lock to keep any potential disasters from happening. It looks good in my newly remodeled kitchen with the other stainless appliances, it is easy to clean under because of the feet. I am very happy that I bought this product and didn't let the reviews about the noise and the plastic covering and the erroneous statement about the body being mostly plastic deter me from getting it!

"Pizza Drawer" = Best Thing Ever!
So you're telling me that this thing has a "pizza drawer", and multiple presets for cooking/reheating pizza? Or I could throw some cookie dough in there and have fresh baked cookies 8 minutes later? And it's a microwave? Um, yes please!!I got this combo microwave a couple months ago and I love it. It replaced a larger microwave and a toaster oven. The microwave works as well as any, and the oven portion does almost everything as well as a traditional toaster oven. The only downside (which is minor for me) is that it takes a few minutes longer to "toast" things. You are really just baking at 425, but it comes out about the same in the end anyway. When it comes to actually baking things however, it is much faster than a traditional oven. There is zero preheat time for one, and I've noticed with most things that I need to dial back the cooking time 10% - 15% from what is recommended.

DON'T DO IT!!! LG CUSTOMER SERVICE and REPAIR SERVICE IS THE WORST!!
I am not usually one to complain about a product, but this one I could not let slide. I was so excited to get this microwave! I have a small kitchen and a teenager who could live on pizza and the oven/microwave combo seemed absolutely perfect! 4 months and 10 days after I purchased this microwave the microwave portion stopped working for no apparent reason. I thought "no problem, I will call LG and they will fix it, it's under warranty". I contacted customer service, which was obviously located in a foreign country because I was having a difficult time understanding "Steve". So they tell me that the nearest repair location is over 2 hours from me, but they said they would find someone closer and contact me within 7 or 8 days. Two weeks later I had to call them back and they gave me the run around again and said it takes 7 or 8 business days and someone would contact me...OK? I had to call again before someone said that they were going to REFUND my purchase price...I thought GREAT! After I contacted them several more times I was told to email my proof of purchase, which I did immediately. After not hearing back from them for another 2 days, I called again! I was told that they were going to mail me a refund and instructions on what to do with the non-working microwave. So another 2 weeks go by and today I finally received a LETTER telling me I have to purchase a new unit and then mail the proof of purchase and all labels on the back of the old unit. BUT...once I do this it will take 6 to 8 weeks to REFUND the money I have already spent on this heap of crap! The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced!! I don't trust that I will ever see the money again, so I told them where they could put the microwave! WASTE OF MONEY!!! DON'T DO IT!!! When you pay that much for a microwave it should last more than 4 months and 10 days!!
