What does one look at when evaluating a fire extinguisher sign. Four basic areas comes to mind. Is the sign durable, Easy to see, easy to mount on all surfaces, Large enough to meet requirements... Heres my take. The Sign itself is made of acrylic. If you do not pull on or flex in the cold during installation it will hold up just fine. Acrylic is more sensitive to handle when its very cold. These did not show any signs of damage or distress as i was evaluating them. They looked to be very solid. I will admit that i wasn't sure about the visual parameters until i mounted one on the wall. The symbol is seasy to recognize from accross the room. Also how it stands out as oposed to the a flat sign makes it nice if you are looking at it from odd angles. The glow in the dark is very vivid. Stands out much more than I expected. Attaching the signs was not difficult at all. It took about 5 mins to get it put up and in service. So that was not bad at all. Now for the last area of interest... Will this meet safety requirements. In short the answer is yes, it should. A six inch marker should be more than large enough to see from accross a room. If you are dealing with a large warehouse, i would reccomend larger. In general it met my expectations and the pricing wasn't too bad. Safety supplies are always overpriced but these seem about right.

These acrylic signs are beyond professional grade. First thing I noticed was how thick the acrylic was. They should stand up to about anything you could throw at them, at least on the wall anyway. The printing is noticeably raise when it catches the light letting you know how quality the printing is. Comes with screws and washers (no anchors), and the screws are only 3/4" (20cm), so they might not go through thicker sheet rock or wall board. But if you have a concern about that or just aren't handy around the house, they come with sticky foam strips for anywhere/anyone-can-do-it mounting. They do glow in the dark, and I mean BRIGHT. Like any other glow in the dark paint, they have to "charge up" with the ambient light, but I let them charge for about 5 minutes and they almost looked like they were electronically lighted signs. Not sure how long they last, but for any emergency situation where the power goes out, you'll certainly know where to find the fire extinguishers right away. I tried to get a photo of the glow-in-the-dark, but my phone wouldn't take a good picture of it, and I didn't want to mislead or discourage anyone with poor photography on my part.

One good thing about these signs is the triangular design that makes them easy to spot from all directions. They are also sturdy and likely to last a long time. The not-so-great thing is the glow-in-the-dark (GITD) feature that they make a big deal of. The way GITD paint works is that it absorbs light (“charges”) from ambient illumination (sunlight or room lighting) and then re-radiates light (glows) over time as the ambient light is removed. So, let it sit in a sunny room during the day and it will glow at night. This is shown in the photo of a sign that was charged indoor and then taken out it the dark garage. The trouble is that if the sign sits in a dark garage all day it doesn’t charge at all and hence doesn’t glow at night. That severely diminishes the utility of the GITD feature.
