The foot shriveled up and fell off with a week. She is otherwise very healthy and lays daily, so I really didn't want to cull her. But she was quite unhappy that I wouldn't let her out with the flock to forage every day. Figured I would give these a try so she could go out and hang with the flock. Average sized hen, used the 2nd size. The 3rd size fits my ducks, so I'm guessing the 4th size would be a turkey. If you can get the chicken to stay still, these are easy to put on. Just put the leg against the back upright and use the vetrap along with a couple of zip ties to to secure it. My flock free ranges on Friday through Monday, so I just fix her up on Thursday night when she's on the roost and the splint stays on until Monday night. I take it off on Monday night so she has a few days to get air to the little stump. It took her a few days to get over the awkwardness, but she is able to keep up with the flock now. Definitely a huge win! I can't get her to stay still long enough to get a picture during the day while she's moving around, but it is a very good fit that mimics the size of her original foot. I'm thinking of putting some sort of sponge or pad at the bottom so her little stump has some cushion.
