In 1909, the companywas founded by Hermann Kastinger in Unterbuchberg near Salzburg and became known for itsproduction of customary women’s and men’s shoes, as well as climbing boots. Max Kastingertook over his father’s company and since then, Kastinger has established a place on the marketas one of the leading global manufacturers of ski boots and climbing boots. Therefore, from1974 onwards, the company began to support various mountain expeditions (e.g. to the mountainsof Pamir and of Karakorum or to the Himalayas). Certain of the high quality of Kastinger’sproducts, two of the leading mountaineers of the time, Peter Habeler and Reinhold Messner,decided to – on their first ascent - climb the Mount Everest without oxygen, but instead to fullytrust on Kastinger shoes. In the following years, the Nanga Parbat and the K2 were conqueredwith Kastinger shoes. In 2013 and in future, Kastinger wants to build up on these rich experiencesand on its over 100-year tradition and begin the path to a new future.
