I took someone’s advise and used 20 developer with the orchid dye. I am brunette with a lot of gray. Been using Pulp Riot jam but this color blows it out of the water! Deep, rich color. I’ve had so many compliments from strangers and friends. I have a new go to for radiant, shiny purple! Total gray coverage and is lasting. I do get some color on my towel, even after several washes. So be careful of that. I use all white towels so I can bleach them. It came right off. Great product!

I have been using this dye for many months now. It leaves my hair super black for a long time. If it gets on my skin, it's easy to get off with water. I haven't had to worry about a stain on my skin after coloring. Some marks are a little more difficult to get off if they stay on for the whole process, but still come of fairly easily with water and a rag/towel.The process I do that has made it last longer was:• Wash my un-dyed hair with shampoo only before coloring (no conditioner for this one)• Wait 24 hours from last hair wash to color (My hair gets oily fast, so 48 hours is too long for me). The oils help lessen the damage to your hair but too much oil has been a problem for me.• After I dye, rinse with cold water til the water runs clear and use the ION color sealer (this stuff genuinely works. You can use it a couple times a week after you dye too). I do not use shampoo or conditioner on this step so the color can settle in.• Wait 48 hours to wash hair again and wash every other day after that. This is when you can use conditioner again.When I started doing that I saw a big difference. Of course, make sure you tailor it to your hair type, but this is what's worked for me.The nice thing about this dye is that while it does make a little color come out during shampooing for some washes, it doesn't stain anything and doesn't run with just water. That means if it rains you won't have to worry! It doesn't get on my clothes at all if it gets wet like temporary colors.

I have been using Ion hair dye for nearly a decade. I've used several different black dyes, but Ion is the only at home hair color that I have used that give me a natural look. Other black dyes make it appear as though I am wearing a wig. Ion also gives my hair nice shine and healthy appearance. Other dies have actually damaged my hair, but not Ion. The color is long lasting. It starts to dull after 3 months. For me, it takes 6 months for the dye to really fade. So if you are wanting to change your hair color from black, you should be able to safely after 6 months, from my experience. I have been able to successfully strip the dye after the 6 month mark to then dye lighter. Like purple, green, red, blue, even grey.

Has no color. Did not develop color. Ordered a purple, yes i know the product is usually white, it did not change once applied to hair. 2nd bottle also had no color and burned like bleach. As you see in pics, hair is WHITE before applying and the other side is bleached and last pic clearly has another color applied so it had time to develop and didnt.

I ordered two boxes since my hair is long (about halfway down my torso), and I definitely recommend doing the same if you have longer or thicker hair.For reference, my hair was previously dyed purple using box dye, and I did not lighten it before applying this product. I mixed both boxes together with 10-volume developer in a reusable dye bottle and applied it as a full-head application.The color turned out absolutely incredible a rich, vibrant, and beautiful purple that looks very professional. Honestly, this dye has completely converted me to salon-grade hair color. If you’re considering going purple, this is 100% the dye you want.The only minor downside is the very strong smell, but that’s pretty standard with salon-quality hair dye, so it didn’t bother me much.I’ve attached a photo, though it truly doesn’t do the color justice (my daughter was asleep, so I couldn’t take a better one). After rinsing with cold water only, I applied conditioner and left it in for about 5 minutes. I’ve been searching for a permanent red dye for bleached hair, and this worked so well. Instructions said to use 10 volume developer but I only had 20, so I used 1oz 20 volume and 1oz water and it worked perfectly. Will update on how it fadesUPDATE!!2nd picture is ~8 weeks after I dyed it. It stuck around pretty well for ~7 weeks, then got pretty orangey. (I shower in coldish water every other day and swim once a week) It only lasted a little bit longer than my usual semi-permanent, which it a bit frustrating considering this is supposed to be permanent.PROS: DOESN'T STAIN ANYTHING!! decently long lasting, perfect colorCONS: damages hair a bit, doesn't last as long as I'd like, dying process is a bit involvedOverall, it depends on what you're looking for. if you'd rather have less damage, easy application, and are ok with a pink shower and pillowcases, I highly recommend adore semi-permanent dye. If you want it to stick around a little longer and not stain anything, choose this!Personally, I think I'll keep using this, considering I'm going into college and will be sharing a bathroom.

I liked this product a lot. I usually have an issue with my scalp reacting to the chemicals and this dye didn’t even itch my scalp. It smells pleasant too!

I dyed my hair in the beginning of July 2025 as seen in the first picture. The second and third pictures were taken today, March 3 of 2026. This color LASTS!! In the current photos, you can see my hair is naturally very dark brown (the black dye has since faded out). I have virgin hair, never been bleached or lightened. The color retention is crazy and the red does not bleed past the first week of washing. I did not and do not use any sort of specialty color-safe shampoo or conditioner (probably why the black faded so quickly), and I did not use the Ion Color Sealer after dyeing it. I used the Ion 20 volume developer. I usually wash my hair twice a week, sometimes three times, but I NEVER put heat on it, so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it as well. Overall, I genuinely highly recommend this product!

I decided to try this hair dye after being reassured by its claim of being PPD-free, as I have a known sensitivity to PPD. Unfortunately, during the patch test, I experienced skin rashes and irritation—exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping to avoid.This raises serious concerns: either the product is not genuinely PPD-free, or it contains another equally harmful chemical causing similar reactions. The whole point of purchasing a product labeled "PPD-free" is to avoid such issues, and this one completely failed to deliver on its promise.If you have sensitive skin or chemical allergies, I’d recommend being cautious with this product. For me, this was a disappointing and frustrating experience. Transparency about ingredients is critical, and this product left me with more questions than trust.

I’ve previously dyed my hair many times and my hair has never fallen out, but with this product that I’ve never used it did. It’s not even worth it because the colour did nothing to my hair

No difference in the hair color. Difficult to actually find the instructions. When I finally did on the inside of package the print was so small I needed a magnifying glass to read and even then it was unclear. Terrible smell. Would not recommend this product to anyone.
