I have used texture plates/pads only a few times. These texture plates are way better than the silicone ones, because my clay would often get stuck in the little crevices of the silicone designs. No matter if I put the clay on the silicone and used pressure or if I flattened the clay and pressed the pad into it, little pieces always got stuck. One thing I like about these texture plates is the size. I can lay one out on my desk and press multiple small pieces into the plate. The designs are gorgeous (I love the steampunk/gears pattern the most), and even though they're intricate, they aren't so intricate that clay gets stuck in them. Also, they're very shallow, so again, no clay getting stuck. I'm very new to using texture plates, so I'm not sure if any of the things I mentioned above are important to experienced clay artists. But they're important to me, a 'noob'. Recommended!

There's a huge variety of patterns in this set. Among the most useful texture mats I found were those those that replicated natural motifs like wood, leather, and bamboo. There's flower tessellations, industrial surfaces that look like metal or patterns that have individual gears, as well as traditional wallpaper-like patterns with waves, sea shells and houndstooth motifs. The quality of each sheet is pretty good. They're made out of plastic that can bend a little, so you can conform it to the material you are using to imprint on. I would avoid creasing the plastic however, since it will damage the patterns. Because the plastic is a bit slippery, I secured my sheets to the table using painters tape to keep them in place. You can wash each sheet using dish soap and water. 5 stars.
