This shampoo was a game changer for my itchy scalp. I tried at least three other products before this and got little to no relief—but this one worked almost immediately. this works perfectly. . .if you follow instructions. I did not, and after 2 weeks, I still had scaley itchy scalp. THEN I checked how to use it and - voila! - 10 days later, no scales, no scaps, no itch. First, as least 20 minutes before I get in the shower, I massage about a tablespoon of the shampoo into the affected area of scalp and leave it. Then, wait 20 -30 minutes, shower and massage it all into foam and leave that until I finish the shower before rinsing out the shampoo. And NO conditioner as that can negate the action of the salicylic shampoo. I also stopped using a large quantity of heavy duty mousse on my fine, thin, perfectly straight hair. I plan to try using some mousse in a few days and see what happens.

Excellent shampoo for removing the built up gunk on the scalp (seb derm), but a bit harsh on the hair. I’m using it (as well as Nizoral) to get a bad seb derm flare under control and will be returning to my regular shampoo and saving these medicated shampoos for a couple of times per week.

This shampoo works! I deal with a specific scalp eczema off and on throughout the year. This shampoo was recommended to me through my dermatologist to use. It works amazing so far. I haven't had a flare up in a few months. I definitely recommend this shampoo to anyone dealing with scalp eczema. Plus it's a little cheaper to get it through here then in the regular store.

Salicylic acid is usually good stuff for a number of skin ailments, but sometimes it works better than others, depending on the patient and the target malady. Have to do trial and error sometimes.

After being miss diognoses as a bateria and receiving anti-biotics my scalp flared as was very painful. After a year and a half I was refered to a dermatoltaligist, and was told my scalp was producing too much sebum (scalp oil) in my old age. A common fungus which loves sebum was having a party causing imfamation and sores by trapped sebum in scalp causing inflamation making bumps that were sore and itching. The remedy not cure was to wash with this Neutrogena T/sal. It is one and recommended by Doctor to dissolve sebum. And then to rinse with bleach 1tsp to liter of water or some to the bath water to kill the fungus I suppose. Sebum is a thick oil and I do three applications and wait five minutes on each application to give it the time to dissolve sebum. The scalp feels better after using but the sebum is produced as a rate that by the end of one day it needs to done again. I provided this iinformation for anyone reading might help them understand in case they are having a simular issue. I recomment this product as a medicated shampoo for removal of sebum.
