Product description Review: Made well with quality materials and can connect up to four together! - I love that this is switchable. I mean, I don't really need it to be. But the fact that it can is really cool. I have bearded dragons that I use these types of hoods that come with T5 bulbs. And for Bearded dragons, they use desert lighting. But I don't think it has anything to do with tropical/desert being a 5.0 or 10.0. I always read that it is the intensity of each one that is different. So, one is stronger than the other. And depending on how far away your reptile is from the light, is how you know which one to set it on. But I only know Beardies and am only talking about Beardies. Bearded dragons can use either one. It just depends on where the bulb is in the cage (on the outside of the lid or inside) and the distance between it and your lizard. For me, having a larger cage and it being a greater distance between the light and my Bearded dragon, and the fact that I always had it on top of the hood/light which was a metal mesh screen, I would need to use the higher intensity one. So, that would be the 10.0. In the beginning, when they were babies I remember using the 5.0 since they were in a 10 gallon tank. This light is suitable for many different reptiles. As I said, I use it in my Bearded dragon cages. I have another one just like this one that uses T5 bulbs. It is only a much longer one. I have been needing something about this size, 12 inches, to make up the difference where the other one came up too short. This one is 12.4 inches. So, a little over a foot long. Perfectly suitable for small cages. Or like in my case, when the first one didn't quite make it. You can place it on top of the lid of your cage or beneath it. I have always read that it is better to have it underneath, but I never had anything to help me do that. Which is another reason I'm really liking this kit. This kit includes everything you need to place the hood on the inside of your cage's lid, which is usually some kind of metal, like mine. A metal mesh-type lid, is a popular lid type to use with reptiles. It comes with a T5 UVB light already in it. These hoods use T5 UVB bulbs, and there are a lot on the market to choose from. The hood is an 8W T5 UVB reptile light hood. Now, for the third thing that I find really cool. You can buy another one and hook it up to this one if in the future, you find yourself needing a bigger cage. And that can hook onto a third one if needed. The listing says it can hook up to four of them. So, I thought that was really neat and a potential game-changer. It is made well with quality material. I'm not sure how long the bulb will last, but from past experience, you get at the very least 6 months of good UVB lighting. I also know from past experience that changing the bulb is super easy to do. It is just a matter of a slight turn of the bulb, and it pops right out. Same thing putting one back in. You set it in and then turn it slightly, and that is it! It can't fall out after that. Review: Easy to set up and use. Works great for my young iguana. - I got this for my juvenile iguana. She already has the heat lamp but I wanted UVB on her too. The kit comes with both a 5.0 and 10.0 option, which is a really cool feature that will really come in handy if I ever want to use it for another species with different needs. You change it with the click of a switch. The fixture feels solid and the reflector is actually shiny, not cheap plastic. My iguana basks under it daily. No eye squinting or hiding from it, so the output seems right. Setup took maybe 2 minutes. Plug it in, clip it on the screen top, done. Cord is a decent length too. All round a really nice, simple to use light for any reptile.

Never worked.
Straight out of the box, never worked. Total waste of $30, thanks. 🤷🏻♀️

2 power options, allows for daisy chaining, ballast is sturdy, and seems to be decent quality.
Fits standard T5 bulbs, was priced reasonable, quality seems OK, it is very bright, and I like how it allows for daisy chaining to provide light to larger tanks. it was relatively easy to setup, and was secure and well protected when it arrived. It does have two settings allowing for a larger output which is convenient. With mesh screens, UVB can be decreased so its nice that it allows for a higher and lower intensity option.

Nice
I actually use this light for our parakeets which need UVB light for their bones as well. It fits nicely on top of the cage and they don’t seem to be interested in messing with it, which is nice because they are prone to that. It is bright but soft at the same time. It has a blue/purple reflective layer on the inside of the light, I’m not sure of its purpose, maybe to soften the light. It has two settings for intensity. The light bulb itself says it is UVB. My only complaint is that I can’t properly attach it to the cage with the included hardware but it was designed for reptile cages and not birds after all so I can’t be too upset about that.

Perfect UVB setup for our bearded dragon!
We got this GlowUp T5 UVB Light Kit for our bearded dragon and it has been excellent. The 12.4" size fits his enclosure perfectly. I love that it has the switchable UVB 5.0 / 10.0 modes — we keep it on 10.0 for our bearded dragon and he’s been much more active and alert since we started using it. The light bar feels well-built, comes with everything you need for installation (brackets, screws, etc.), and the on/off switch on the cord is super convenient. My daughter helps take care of him and she’s really happy with how bright and effective the light is. Setup was straightforward and it’s been running reliably. Our dragon basks happily under it every day. Great value and solid performance for the price. Highly recommend this kit for bearded dragons or other reptiles that need strong UVB!

Perfect for small enclosure
Finding a reliable, compact T5 fixture can be tough, but this one does a great job. It provides a steady, reliable output of UVB that is essential for proper reptile health and metabolic function. The fixture itself is sleek, lightweight, and very easy to mount or rest on top of a screen lid. The power cord and switch feel durable, and it provides a nice, crisp light that brightens up the entire enclosure.
