Nice shirt fits well

The simple but classic and smart appearance of this shirt suits my intended use perfectly, as does the fact that it has long sleeves. I have a late trip to Greece booked and the family hotel that I am staying at has an informal dress code but last time I was there I couldn't help but notice that the family, who ate in the restaurant with us, would always smarten up for evening dinner, as did a number of the guests. So this year I will be joining them in that and instead of my usual cargo pants and T shirt it will be chinos and and a shirt on the lines of this one. The long sleeves will come in handy as the evenings can get a bit chilly. This is a well made shirt with very neat seams, well made button holes and well secured buttons to marry up with them. I am a 36" chest and the S (40.9") would seem to be the logical choice but I do prefer a looser fit and so opted for a M (42.3") and got exactly the fit I wanted. Being a cotton/polyester mix means that it feels really good against the skin, smooth and soft. I plumped for the Burgundy but would have been happy with most of the colours, only avoiding white because I can't keep white stuff clean for more than a few minutes. There is a negative in that the care instruction says to hand wash only. Well, that may happen when I am on my hols but won't happen at home. It will go in the machine on a cotton wash and will have to take its chances.

This smart shirt is made with cotton and elastane. It's a comfortable, thick quality fabric with a subtle sheen. I ordered this for my husband as he previously had a similar colour (grey) shirt which he loved but eventually wore out. He says this one is very comfortable and easy to move in. It's a good fit in his regular size (M) and drapes very well. There's a top slip pocket, a choice of 2 buttons for fastening at the cuff, and an attractive co-ordinating subtle lining to the cuffs, collar and button placket. The shirt can be hand washed, tumble dried and ironed, although the label could show a little more information, such as washing and drying temperatures and the percentage fabric compositions. As a smart shirt, it's suitable for wearing to work and smart or smart-casual occasions.

The design of this is good but the quality isn't great, its quite a rustly cheap polyester that I associate with fabrics from the 1990s - things have generally moved on since then, but this feels like its stuck in that era. It just feels cheap as a fabric. Sizes up slightly too large - I'd say if you're on the boundary between 2 sizes, you'd be best off sizing down, especially if you are looking for a slim/regular fit rather than casual fit.
