The Asus ZenScreen provides an additional 15.5” of useable screen for a notebook computer. The all-plastic black housing has a fine semi-matte textured finish on a 5/16” frame surrounding the display panel and an easy-to-grip striated texture on the bottom edge of the front and on the back. With an overall size of 1/2 x 8-7/8 x 9-1/8” it will fit inside many notebook cases alongside a computer. The detachable “kick stand” support can be left attached, increasing the total thickness to 7/8”. This support is connected with a simple thumbscrew that does not require tools for installation or removal from the display. The stand has a silicone rubber non-skid foot and it is hinged to allow adjustment in viewing angle. It folds flat for storage and transport. Asus has thoughtfully provided a 1/2” diameter hole in the stand that serves as a hanging point if you desire to attach the monitor to a wall or cubicle partition. The left bottom edge of the display has the connection jacks. First is a 3.5mm headphone jack. Below that are a mini-HDMI port and two USB-C ports. The USB-C ports support DP Alt mode which allows you to power the screen and supply the video signal through a single USB-C cable. I connected it this way to my Lenovo IdeaPad and it powered up and displayed right away. Alternatively, you can connect using the HDMI port, but this will require providing power to one of the USB-C ports through a second cable. The front lower left corner contains a momentary press on/off button and a mini joystick. Pressing the joystick brings up an onscreen menu from which you can navigate and make your selections. In addition to the built-in menu system, you have the option of installing the Asus “DisplayWidget Center” app. This app gives you many more display options, including contrast, color saturation, RGB color adjustment and auto change to vertical orientation. I’m not big on installing apps unless they are really needed, but this one did allow me to match the display characteristics of the ZenScreen to closely match my notebook’s display. The app does nag you to set up and Asus account, so that might cause me to uninstall it. Asus includes a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, a USB-C cable and a padded zippered case to hold everything. This is a very nice portable monitor that gets my excellent rating.

This is a super convenient display that comes with everything you need. The 15.6 inch size pairs well with most laptops. Mine is only a 14”, but it still works well with this display. In the box you get the display, a padded case for the display, the kick stand, a velvety soft bag for the kick stand, a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, and a USB-C cable with one straight side and one 90 degree side. The kickstand makes it easy to set this up in portrait or landscape mode, and it holds it in place well. IF you install the DisplayWidget app, the display will detect if it’s in portrait or landscape mode and adjust windows settings to match. I tested it on my personal laptop and it worked well, though I’m not able to install the software on my work laptop. Without the software installed, there is a brief message on the display itself when you turn it saying it can’t change windows settings. Color quality is good. It’s not quite as bright as my Yoga display, but it’s close enough. The anti-glare does it’s job nicely. You’ll notice there are 2 USB C jacks on the display. You can feed video to this over HDMI, and power it over USB-C. Or, you can send video AND power over a single USB-C cable, and then daisy chain a second display using the other USB-C jack. I was able to get that to work with my laptop, but not with my phone, I assume because the phone doesn’t support the second display. It’s a great value kit for the price.

This is a pretty good portable monitor and works well for what I need it for. I really like that it can be positioned in several different ways, which makes it easy to set up depending on where I’m working. The 15.6-inch size is a nice balance between having enough screen space while still being compact enough to travel with. The only real gripe I have is with the included carrying bag. It actually recommends NOT putting the charging cable in the same bag as the monitor, which seems a little silly for a portable setup. It would be much more convenient to have everything stored together and ready to grab and go. I would also note the price may be a touch over than I would typically spend. Overall, though, I’m happy with the monitor and think it’s a solid option for portability.

Great screen for traveling! It’s soo nice to have a second monitor when working, you wouldn’t understand until you’ve have one. This monitor is great because it only requires one USB-C connection to expand your video from a laptop. Some of the other screens I’ve tried require a video cable and a separate power cable which can be clunky when traveling. It does pull power from the laptop so you need to take battery life into account. Come with a quick and easy to attach stand on the back which will support the monitor in landscape and portrait mode. The screen is pretty stable with the included stand but obviously you red to be delicate with it, it’s not as sturdy as a full desk monitor. Screen brightness is good as well, I had no issues at all using this and seeing the screen from any angle. So far I’m very happy with the screen and appreciate how quick and easy it is to setup and breakdown. It comes with a zippered travel bag to give it some protection but again you do need to be delicate with it, in now way is this a “rugged” screen. Fits well in a backpack for easy carrying. One thing I was a little disappointed about was the screen lacks and speakers. I understand they would be minimal due to the size of the screen but something would have been better than nothing. It only has a 3.5mm headphone jack if you wanted to plugin headphones or speakers. I guess they expect you to use the primary device for sound if needed. Overall, it’s a great monitor and I would recommend it to others. Out of the box, ASUS includes the 15.6-inch 1080p portable monitor, USB-C to USB-C cable, HDMI to HDMI cable, stand, quick installation guide, and a protective sleeve. The monitor has a solid plastic casing but is still very lightweight, making it easy to carry around. I mainly use this monitor as a second screen for my laptop. My laptop connects using the included USB-C to USB-C cable, which is very convenient. This is different from my other 13- to 17-inch portable monitors, which use a mini-HDMI connection. With this monitor, the USB-C cable handles both the video signal and power, so there is no need for a separate power cable. You will need to install ASUS DisplayWidget Center to gain more control over the monitor. Unfortunately, auto-rotation does not work with my HP OmniBook 7 for some unknown reason, so I have to manually switch between portrait and landscape orientation. The picture quality looks great, especially when watching HD movies. It is probably the best-looking screen among the portable monitors I have used. Unfortunately, this monitor does not include built-in speakers, but that is not a deal breaker for me. I also had trouble connecting my headphones directly to the monitor, so I simply connect them to my laptop instead. The kickstand is simple but a little flimsy. You need to tighten the bolt securely to make sure it doesn't collapse. Overall, this is not a fancy portable monitor, but for a little over $100, it is a good choice. It is lightweight, has excellent picture quality, and the USB-C connection makes it easy to use as a second screen.

I am impressed and thrilled with this portable USB monitor from Asus. As someone who provides remote computer support, I use two displays most of the time--one for the remote session and one for local apps. In the past, working while traveling has been cumbersome, but not anymore! Immediately after unboxing, I connected the display with a single USB-C cable to a MacBook. The display took about 4 seconds to start up, and then it simply worked. By default it acts as an extended monitor for the MacBook. There were absolutely no MacBook settings to change--literally plug and play. At first the picture quality next to the Mac was pretty dim, but that was only because the brightness was set very low. I raised it to 60% and the display became brilliant. The Mac display is still better, but for office work, the Asus display looks great. Next I connect the USB-C cable to a 7 year old Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop running Windows 11. Same experience--plug and play, the only difference was that by default the second display was set to duplicate instead of extend. 10 seconds of settings changes fixed that. Finally I plugged the USB-C cable into an iPhone 16 Pro. Again, plug and play! The iPhone image appeared vertically when the Asus was horizontal, and turning the Asus vertical did not make the image full screen. But rotating the iPhone to horizontal did the make the image on the Asus full screen horizontal as well. Netflix looked terrific! There are a lot of possible variations that I haven't explored, mainly because I won't use them. For example, there's a volume setting on the display, which may control speakers or perhaps only the volume for the 3.5mm headphone jack. The box includes a nice zip up sleeve for the display and a little cinch sack for the kickstand, which attached or detaches easily in a couple seconds. I haven't run the display yet for an extended period of time, so I don't know how much impact it will have on the laptop or iPhone battery. Since there are two USB-C ports, you can always connect dedicated power to the screen separately from the connection to the source device. Screen size is excellent. It's large enough to be useful, but any larger would might get difficult to fit in a backpack. This portable external display is an excellent value.

As an accountant who is always working, having this extra screen is phenomenal! Going into the office once a week means carrying all my gear, and this monitor is insanely durable—it holds up to everything, including being dropped multiple times by me. It gives me a 4th display when I am working, making multitasking across spreadsheets and software so much easier.
