Solid phone rig, easily replaces expensive camera gear, easy to use, many mounting options
Using the UTEBIT Universal Quick Release Phone Cage, I was able to turn a regular smartphone into something that feels much closer to a dedicated handheld video rig. My main use cases are filming product reviews, taking photos, and occasionally recording action videos for my kids’ sports and events, where a steadier grip makes a noticeable difference. The design makes it easy to hold the rig with both hands, and the additional mounting options open the door for lights, microphones, or other accessories. For basic mobile video work, the functionality is immediately useful. There are not many major complaints with this rig, but a couple of limitations are worth mentioning. While the cage supports MagSafe-style mounting and includes an adhesive ring for non-compatible phones, some thicker or unusual cases may not fit perfectly with the magnetic system. In those situations, you may need to rely on the adjustable phone clamp instead. The system works well once set up, but switching between cases, different phones, or mounting styles may require some adjustment. The overall build quality is better than I expected for a budget-friendly smartphone cage, at around 30 dollars. The aluminum alloy frame feels sturdy without adding too much weight, and the rubber padding in the phone holder helps protect the phone while keeping it secure. The dual handles thread smoothly into the sides of the cage and can be repositioned along the rails depending on how you want to hold the rig. It’s clearly intended for the handles to fit into the device's middle with the notches; however, if you need to reposition them along the rail, it will still work just fine. The appearance is fairly clean and professional, and it does not feel like a cheap plastic accessory. One feature that stands out is the number of mounting points. The cage includes multiple 1/4-20 threaded holes, along with a cold shoe mount, making it easy to add accessories such as lights and microphones, or to mount the entire setup to a tripod. The handles can also be installed in different orientations, allowing the rig to be used for both horizontal and vertical filming. That flexibility makes the system practical for different types of content creation. In real-world use, I found the UTEBIT phone cage performs well, improving stability and giving you a much better grip than holding a phone alone. When filming handheld video, the two handles reduce small movements, making the footage look smoother. It also helps when framing shots for photos or video reviews since you can hold the phone in a more controlled position. My Samsung S26 Ultra fits perfectly, even with a case installed, which makes the setup quick and easy to use. From a value perspective, this kit is well-priced. Video and photography equipment is never cheap, but this is an affordable way to replace a DSLR on a budget. It will not replace a full professional camera rig, but its usefulness and portability are often a great tradeoff for lugging around a bunch of camera gear. For anyone filming with a smartphone, it adds real functionality without requiring a large investment. Considering the materials, compatibility with many phone sizes, and the included handles, the value is easy to justify. Overall, the UTEBIT Universal Quick Release Phone Cage is a good option for anyone who records video with a smartphone and wants more stability and mounting flexibility. The quality, usability, and expandability make it a practical tool for creators, reviewers, or even parents filming events and sports. If you want to improve handheld phone video without moving to a full camera setup, this rig is a viable option that delivers good performance for the price.

Extremely versatile phone cage with misleading listing details
This is a very well-made and highly configurable phone cage, but the product listing does not accurately describe several of its features. Starting with the positives, the build quality is excellent. The cage is all metal and feels solid in hand. It attaches to the phone using a MagSafe-style magnetic mount, which allows for quick attachment and removal. That makes setup fast and convenient compared to traditional clamp-style cages. The kit includes two side handles, giving you a stable, two-handed grip. There are four cold shoes and a large number of 1/4"-20 threaded mounting points distributed across the cage, the magnet plate, and the handles. Many of these threaded holes include anti-rotation slots similar to ARRI locating pins, which is a fantastic feature for preventing accessories from twisting under load. There are also centrally positioned anti-rotation slots on the top, bottom, and sides, oriented front to back. That allows you to mount the handles as top grips, bottom grips, or even orient the cage face-down while keeping the handles vertical. The flexibility here is impressive, and it supports a wide variety of configurations. The included hex wrench is useful for tightening the handles, disassembling the cage, and even removing the magnetic mount for additional versatility. It also includes a steel adhesive ring. This can be used to make non-MagSafe phones compatible, or you can attach it to the back of the magnet plate so you can stack additional MagSafe-style accessories like a selfie monitor or battery pack. Since I already use MagSafe-style cases, I used the ring on the back to expand accessory compatibility. Now for the discrepancies. The listing claims “quick-release” handles. They are not quick-release. They attach using standard 1/4" screws with knurled finger dials that have holes that allow tightening with the included hex wrench. They are solid and secure, but they are absolutely not quick-release. The listing also states the handles are “equipped with hex wrenches” for storage. There is no built-in wrench storage slot in the handles. I have seen that feature on other handles, so I know what they are referring to, but it is not present here. There is no included clip for securing the phone. The only attachment method provided is the magnetic mount. The listing clearly mentions securing the phone via MagSafe or an included clip, but no clip is included. There is also no 67mm filter mount included, despite the listing mentioning one. I am not sure what they mean by “expansion base mounting hole” unless they are simply referring to the 1/4" threaded holes, which are already abundant. One design limitation worth noting is that the magnetic mount is circular. Because the phone does not physically brace against cage edges, a heavily lopsided setup, such as one with a large lens attachment, could potentially rotate under torque. Despite the inaccurate listing details, the cage itself is genuinely well designed and highly versatile. The build quality is strong, the mounting options are extensive, and the configuration flexibility is excellent. If the listing accurately reflected what is actually included, this would be an easy five-star product. As it stands, the hardware earns high marks, but the misleading feature claims prevent it from being perfect.

A Phone Cage I Didn’t Know I Needed
This is something I had no idea I needed until I picked it up, and now I use it multiple times a day. I do a lot of audio and video work, and this makes it much safer and easier to run second and third camera angles, while also serving as a primary setup in some cases. The dual handles add stability, and the multiple mounting points make it easy to attach a light and microphone while keeping everything compact and balanced. I keep a case on my phone, so I used the included magnetic ring and stuck it directly to the case. Now the phone snaps into place easily, and the magnet holds it firmly while still allowing me to slide it slightly up or down to fine-tune the level. It was very straightforward to assemble and within a few minutes I had my light, mic, and phone mounted and ready to record. The aluminum construction feels sturdy yet lightweight. Very pleased to have this phone cage in my A/V kit.
