So this is a meat cleaver indeed and... nothing else. Quality and heft is 5 stars and overall it is a great knife and only reason I'm dinging it one star is because its too specialized for my kitchen workflow. But if you're a hopeless carnivore and hack through bone regularly then this axe, I mean knife, might be what you're looking for! Think compound double bevel and you'll get what I mean. I like some versatility in my knives and hoped I could use this one for a few other tasks but the edge is strictly for splitting. Value makes it a 5 again but then the handle leaves me unimpressed so there's your compromise. Forget about chopping veggies with this after stripping a shank.
