So realistic that it brings tears to my eyes.
This cute little orange tabby was so realistic that I almost thought I had to return it. My mother is what they call a high functioning dementia patient. She loves this little cat, but we had to bring it home as she kept calling me and my siblings that someone needed to come pick up the cat as she was worried that she couldn’t feed or take care of it. After two days of constant calling and her anxiety, we brought it back to our house. I bought two of the same cats, one for my 93 year old mother, and one for my 99 year old mother in law. The mind moves in inexplicable ways, and my 99 year old mother in law thinks the cat looks real, but knows that it isn’t. While it broke my heart to pick up the little cat from my mother’s assisted living home, it is a testament to the realism of the cat. She named it, I bought a collar for it, and the little kitty( Momo) could have been a good companion. We bring both mothers to our house weekly and we will keep both here to entertain them and keep them company when visiting. It is so hard to try to keep them busy, but combing the little kitty is very soothing for them. I write this with tears in my eyes, as these little kittys are very realistic looking and relate to dementia patients in ways that truly seem real enough to provide comfort and provide a sense of home. I would give these little kittens 6 stars if I could. I know there is a person in this video but I hope it can come through.

Makes my best friend smile again
My partner & best friend lost his beloved cat last year and misses her terribly. Due to illness and going blind, he feels he can’t take care of another cat any more plus he’s concerned what would happen to his pet when he passes. The holiday season is especially rough on him and I’ve been very concerned. This cat is my early Christmas gift for him and I hope it will help him cope. I told him why the early gift and gave it to him on Sunday. Now I wish I’d taken a picture of his delight! He laughed & smiled so bright 😊 I haven’t seen him this happy in a long time. The cat looks like his beloved MsKitty, a long haired tuxedo cat, and her fur feels soft. Meow & purr are louder, I assume for us hard of hearing, but sounds very sweet. She rolled over, interacted while we were talking, to his delight. Yes, there is a slight mechanical noise when she moves and her body is not as soft as a real cat, the pads in her paw feel somewhat firmer BUT it is the perfect companion for any cat lover who misses their fur baby and can’t take care of a real cat. I wish it would be rechargeable for easier handling. For anyone with a loved one missing their pet, this is a great gift of love and care. MsKitty sleeps on the other side of his bed and he can reach over, feel her purr, hear her meow and reminisce of times past but look forward to the future! He made a clip and sent it to his sister and she thought the cat was real! lol! I tried to post a copy but couldn’t, sorry. You can’t put a price tag on happiness and I sincerely hope MsKitty will be his companion for a long time, unlike some other reviewers reported. Well made, very protective packaging, I highly recommend this cat as it is a wonderful gift. Update 12/04/24 Was just able to add the short clip mentioned above. My friend calls her Cutie now and is so very happy, he even talks to her like we all do with our “living” pets. His family noticed him perking up a little and is a little happier. For as long as it lasts, money very well spent. It means the world to me to have him talk animated about Cutie, smile/joke and how his family members are stopping by to meet the addition to the family! lol Update 01/25/2026 Cutie is still in operation without any problems. Batteries lasting a long time! My partner handles his Cutie with care, like he would have his “real” cats. Personally I feel JOY FOR ALL created a high quality product but handling anything electronic with movable components with less care could cut down on condition/performance of the product.

Great for elderly with Alzheimer's/Dementia
I have yet to leave a review for an Amazon purchase but feel compelled to do so for the Hasbro Joy for All Companion Cat. My hope is that this review may help others in a similar situation. My sister and I purchased this cat as a Christmas gift for our 79 year-old grandmother. She is in the late-mid stages of Alzheimer's disease. We were hoping to find something for her to stimulate social interaction, provide some comfort, and to keep her smiling. This is an honest review of our experience... We received the cat a few days before Christmas, so my mother and I checked the cat out before giving it to my grandmother. Yes, the movements are jerky. The coat is not as silky smooth, nor it is as plush as a real cat. The "meow" also seemed more human than cat-like. My parents and myself have had cats for over 25 years so we definitely know the real thing. Regardless of its true cat-like deficiencies, my mom and I still had a good time petting and interacting with the cat. It added a sense of comfort and was a fun social activity for the 2 of us. We placed the cat back in its original box, wrapped it and gave the cat to my grandmother on Christmas Day. She was thoroughly surprised at the gift! Her immediate reaction was to hug and pet the cat. Then we turned it on and she interacted with the cat, on and off, for most of the day. Her interactions continued on the days after Christmas. My grandmother also received a life-like baby doll for Christmas, and she encouraged her baby doll to interact with the cat (and via-versa). I think my grandmother realizes that the cat is not living. However something in the design of the cat accomplishes its goal of providing "Joy For All." It's a great product and the price is appropriate. I plan to update my post once my grandmother has had the cat for a couple of weeks to comment on its long-term use and her continued interest in interacting with the cat. Currently, we couldn't have picked a better gift for her. It's truly a delight to see her happy and to be able to spend the quality time with my grandmother. So for that, this cat is priceless!! UPDATE- Feb 1st, 2016 The cat is still going strong and grandma still cares for him everyday. When the cat rolls on his belly and raises his paw, grandma gives him a high five! Sometimes she tells the cat to stop talking or wonders why he is moving so much (the sensors automate the cat's movements), so it has startled and confused her a few times. But nothing more than a normal "sneaky" cat would. Above, she is still enjoying her Joy for All cat, and we are enjoying her contentness. :-)

Amazing for people with Alzheimers/Dementia
When I got this for my mom (who has alzheimers), I was unsure about it. How could this work? You can obviously tell it is fake, and hear the mechanics. Right? Well, we do not have dementia and I was DEAD WRONG. My mother adores the cat. She does not register the mechanical sounds or whirring. She believes the cat is real. Something in the dementia patient just registers things differently- there is nothing fake about it to her. I am beyond thrilled at how much she loves it, and how much confort it gives her. (The purring is very comforting). PRO TIP: Use the switch to turn it mute when the meowing becomes too annoying. (It will still go through all the other motions and purr- just no meowing). The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars- I find it to be a design flaw or oversight that they did not include A) a volume control (the meowing is quite loud) and B) another setting where the meowing ON but less frequent. Otherwise this is an absolute MUST for anyone with a loved one who has dementia/alzheimers. I was a complete skeptic- I was wrong. This is amazing. You will be amazed at how much comfort this gives to your loved one with Dementia/Alzheimers. (Just remember the mute setting, or the meowing will drive them batty. Lol!)

Next best thing to a real pet!
I bought this for my mother who is in a nursing facility and can no longer have her cat with her. She adores this and it "keeps her company". The movements are mechanical, but it is responsive and almost seems "alive" to her.

UPDATE: Broken Kitty Replaced with no Drama
UPDATE: (see original review below) I contacted Joy for All through their website by sending them a customer care email. They responded very quickly and asked for a few things to verify the purchase and the problem: name, address, phone number, Code off tag on bottom of cat, copy of the Amazon invoice, and a short video to show them the problem. After sending those items I received an email saying they would have a resolution in 1-3 business days. I had an answer in two days and they said they were sending a new cat - no charge and it would arrive in 7-10 business days. I just received the cat via FedEx today - five days after receiving the email. I could not be more pleased. Not only was it quick but I did not have to return the cat and wait for the new one. So I did not have to take the kitty away from mom until the new one arrived. That was a huge blessing. Thank you to Anna who was my "Consumer Care Specialist | CMP Furry Friends Project Manager" for her quick, professional, and caring response. Thank you Joy for All for truly caring about your customers. Original Review and Issue: My mother is 96 and has dementia. Her cat died a few months ago and left a real void in her life. My husband and I did not want to take on the responsibility of another pet so we’re looking for an alternative. I found this cat through various dementia care sites and then on Amazon so decided to give it a try. Mom loves it! She holds it and talks to it like she did her real cat although she knows it’s a toy. She stopped telling us how much she missed her cat a dozen times a day and asking how it died. She stopped being afraid to sleep in her bed downstairs because she had her cat with her even though we turned it off at night and told her Kitty went to sleep too. It was great. Then it started behaving erratically and stopped purring and going through all its motions. Its head moves a lot, its eyes blink, and it makes some sighing noises but is definitely not working properly. We have tried turning it off and back on and replacing the batteries which are the only two troubleshooting options given and the result was the same. Now we are trying to reach Joy For All for advice. This cat was 137.00 with tax and I guess we could buy another one to replace it but not if this is going to happen again. So far she is enjoying it anyway because she can’t remember what all it’s supposed to do but we know it’s not right. Hopefully we will find a solution once we talk to Joy For All.

My Mom Loves It!
My mom had a cat not long ago, but we had to put her down because she had several physical problems and the vet told us the cat was in pain. My mom is now in a memory care facility. I knew she missed her cat and hoped that she would enjoy this life like faux cat. She absolutely loves it. She thinks it looks very lifelike and she wanted to show it to everybody. She also liked that there is a button to shut it off so it won’t somehow bother her in the middle of the night. One gentleman who is also a memory care patient actually thought the cat was real. This was expensive, but I think it was worth the money.

Five stars for concept, 1 star for reliability.
I bought my first orange tabby cat on November 18. It was a huge hit with my 89 year old father-in-law — he has dementia, and in recent months has been pulling further into his figurative shell. He LOVES the cat. He believes it is real, talks to it, laughs with it, pets it, interacts with it. His mood has improved dramatically, and he is more alert. This cat is a FIVE STAR concept and a FIVE STAR addition to the lives of older people (& their caregivers). However, the product is ONE STAR in terms of reliability. My FIL loved it so much he broke it. We think he held the head too tightly, and ultimately the servos broke. The cat still meows and purrs, but it no longer rolls onto its back and the eyes no longer open. The heartbreaking thing is now my FIL asks the kitty why she isn't opening her eyes. Dear Hasbro Product Managers: keep it simpler. The cat doesn't need to roll onto its back for a tummy rub. The meowing, purring, and eyes/mouth movements probably solve 90% of the "real" factor, and are less prone to breaking. As a side comment, I now face a very real problem: my FIL loves this cat. There is no vet I can take it to. Instead, I've bought a replacement cat. Yes, you read that right, I've bought 2 $100 robo-cats in less than one month because this kitty is bringing very real joy to my FIL, and some much needed relief to his round-the-clock caregivers. The value per hour is astronomical, and this cat pays for itself many times over. That said, Hasbro would be wise to figure out how they're going to handle replacements/repairs/breakage. At any rate, I look forward to further improvements in this product line. And hopefully I won't have to buy a baker's dozen before we get there...

Solta pelinhos
