Definitely clear & lustrous wood preserver
So far I am impressed with this because I've tried a few types that weren't satisfactory to the requirements. This is a clear oil that is thin like water that you paint on and it soaks in. There is no tint of orange like other similar items which damaged my fence panel by making it bright orange. This one stays clear which is good because despite cleaning my fence the pressure treated wood has green and black streaks from copper in the pressure treating phase which orange tints exasperate and this product does not. It dries fast and looks good . Have built up 5 coats in a heavy traffic area. Not been treated over winter yet but as its food and preserver for the wood itself it should be waterproof enough and will assess next year. Have also painted onto water based white paint the other side and it soaked in non yellowing because water based paints do not feed the timber so the oils penetrated through the layer of white paint on top of pressure treated fence. I couldn't find a oil based white paint for fence so that worked for me. The oils are the most important part, colour is aesthetics. Oils will maintain the woods flexibility when contracting with temperatures and non fed wood will tend to crack and become brittle if there is damp, humidity and fluctuating of this. Oils prevent water penetrating into timber. I will be trying this on other natural materials once I get that far, as its a sealer.

Excellent oil based product
This appears at first use to be an excellent product. I purchased the Clear preservative to coat a new rough sawn fence which was required after storm Eowyn. As of today I have coated a 15m fence on one side with approx 4 litres of the product. It soaks in well and is easy to apply. Has a minimal odour and appears to be both a light solution which penetrates the wood panels well giving them a natural light golden appearance. I have applied various products over the years to fences and this is by a mile the easiest to apply with a basic fence brush. I intend to apply 2 coats so I purchased 15litres in total but suspect that 10 will suffice to allow a spare for touch ups if required. I expect that when dry it will protect the wood from the rain which we get plenty of. Brushes are easily cleaned in white spirit although I would recommend buying a cheap plastic bucket in order to pour product into for application. Update: I have now completed both sides of fence with 2 coats and of 15 litres I have used about 12 in total as it soaks in very well to new wood. The clear leaves a mellow colouring but allows wood knots and all to show through. I would recommend this product because of its ease of application, finished look and protective properties which I hope will last for quite a few years.

Great wood preservative
It’s as expected, very thin like water so really soaks into the wood which is what you want. Great price for the quantity as will enable me to complete treating my pergola and will have enough to do it again next year too. It’s virtually odourless and doesn’t stain on stone or brick nor colour the wood, easily applied with a brush, small brush best as it is very thin so would drop everywhere if you applied with a large brush. Gave 4:5 as I don’t yet know how well it’s going to preserve the wood, only time will tell but happy with it and best product for the price by a mile, much better than all those colouring paint treatments.

Easy to apply
Easy to apply and used a standard good quality 2 inch woodwork brush to apply. Product poored into a small paint kettle with lid. Used on a new build fence that had discoloured within a year. Result was good. Applied 2 coats and its brought fence back to life showing a natural look and wood knots. I used the clear colour. Some panels were sun exposed so applied an extra coat. Can see the water repellent effective. Delivery was not through Prime so was not next day but product was well packaged. My only advice is order more than you need as it soaks in immediately and you need 4 days without rain forecast to do 2 coats.

Money well spent
Yep, as others have said. You get what you pay for. I’ve used ‘own brand’ from Screwfix before on some decking and it absolutely stank (really strong smell). This stuff does have a mild smell but nowhere near the own brand stuff. I used 1 x 5ltr tin to do 2 coats (with 24hrs between coats). It basically like painting with water. Goes on super easy with a wide brush and you can visibly see it soaking into the wood which will give the protection once dry. Hasn’t rained yet (thankfully) but I’m fully confident the water will bead off. (I will update here if there is an issue!)

This stuff is the best
Use this stuff all the time - in fact I don't use anything else to protect my handmade garden items, fences, gates. Soaks in, good colours (I usually mix clear with light brown to get a lighter brown colour), doesn't smell too bad, dries quickly, and the best bit - it works to protect exterior wood! You can also just reapply when it's worn off a bit (after a year or two) and it looks like new again. I just slap it on with an old brush. I wear oil-resistant gloves, and eye protection (when I remember).
