An accomplished product that just needs decent product documentation
This is a review of the Elitech Temperature Humidity Data Logger USB with External Sensor, selling on Amazon for £32. I have had a weather station for many years, which uses temperature and other monitors inside and outside the house which beam data via Bluetooth to the base station, which needs to be close by. This is a slightly different beast. It is meant for situations such as remote monitoring , say in a refrigerated lorry on its journey, where it will log temperature which can be checked for food hygiene purposes. It records and stores the data and automatically generates and populates pdf/csv reports with the logged data. The monitor can simply be plugged into a USB port of a computer (PC or Mac) and the reports copied off. Alternatively, using the free software for PC or Mac, you can download the data and read a live data feed. The LCD display on the unit can show current readings and status. According to the listing, it has a new 'shadow data' function which seems to make sure it is logging data even if you forget to start the monitoring off. I couldn't see how this works though - it didn't seem to collect any data before I started it off. It doesn't come with any instructions and the user manual on the website is next to useless so docking a star for lack of product support. Apart from that it seems to be an accurate and accomplished device. The software works well but its a bit odd that it can only work in full screen mode - there is no windowed option. My Bluetooth temperature sensors were over £20 I seem to remember and were probably not as accurate as this nor are they self standing - they need a weather station to collect the data. I would say, therefore that this is good value for money and, if they provided proper user instructions, I would be happy to give it 5 stars. My rating scale: ***** Excellent **** Very Good *** Good ** OK * Poor

Looks like a very professional tool.
It's an ideal product for businesses or individuals looking to monitor the temperature and humidity of their cold chain products. It features an external sensor, allowing for easy measurement by simply extending the sensor to the measurement location. Measurement data appears secure and is stored in memory. Adjustable parameters allow you to set alarm limits and recording intervals to suit your needs. It measures from 0°C to 85°C, and its humidity measurement is also very accurate. The price is also reasonable.

Impressive for the price
This is a decent tool if you want to measure the temperature stability of a fridge, wine store or freezer, with plenty of other applications as well. I struggled a bit to get it working to start with, but after going to the Mac App Store to download ElitechLog it all became a bit clearer. I configured it to work for a freezer (low limit of -25C), and started the logging. I got six days of readings from my garage freezer - photo attached. The chart in the photo is a bit low in contrast, but clear enough for my purposes. It is much clearer in the app. I really like the fact that the unit generates its own PDF report - an excellent feature. Overall, it's pretty impressive for the price.

Seems to do as it states on the box.
Small discrete unit (about the size of an old Nokia 2210) very suitable for longitudinal temperature and humidity recording. With software downloaded, I undertook a trial run overnight before installing in a building in need of heating upgrade. Software displayed the temperature and humidity over the 14 hour time period and download to Excel was easy.

Lots of uses
This little datalogger has lot of uses. Although its intended for use in the food and pharmaceutical industry, we have used it to monitor and record the operation of our heat recovery unit. There are no instructions in the box, just a calibration certificate. I also couldn't find any instructions online, although this might be because the unit is new to market. On searching the Elitech website, I did find a software application which once loaded on the PC, allowed me to connect and set the Datalogger up. I was able to set the max, min temperature together the the time interval for recording the information. The application also allows for setting time, date, start times and lots more information. Once programmed the datalogger was placed in its position and the start button pressed. Then this morning, the Datalogger was plugged into the USB on the PC. The Elitech software started and the software automatically connected to the Datalogger and downloaded the information. The information is presented in a chart and list format with the option to export. The Datalogger also has a PDF of the information that can just be downloaded without the need for the Elitech software. This has many uses, we are going use it to monitor the heat recovery unit and find out which setting work best. It dose need the software to set the unit up but after that it can be used without the software. Runs on a 2450 button battery

Useful but not for everyone
Most people will never have a need for one of these, but after I moved into a house that had some damp issues, I found this useful to record and log the temp and humidity in the house during various stages of the repair process. Easy to access the data and export to review.
