Seachem Purigen 1000ml

This is the best filtering product out there. I use this as the final stage of filtering, in my small back yard pond. Cleaning it is a pain though. I wish I understood why it is so expensive too. I need two liters to do what I need, in my filter. A little does not go a long way. I have followed the instructions on the recharging process. My beads never seem to go back to anywhere near the original color. They are almost dark brown. I tried all different ways to bleach them, but nothing is working. It works wonders for a week. But digging it out from the bottom of my 5-gallon filter is a pain. I also wish that their bags were sold in a much larger size, for large filter. All in all, I love how it works, but I don't love the cost, cleaning aspect and lenght of life.

First let me say in 30+ years of keeping and servicing tanks professionally as well as personally I can tell you the biggest thing owners want and that is constant crystal clear water! There are a lot of things needed to obtain that like great filtration etc. but even with that most tanks still have issues providing the owners with the glass like clarity! Over the decades I have used all the other items out there for removing the left over minute particles even the best filtration misses all with decent results, however nothing compares to Seachem Purigen! I mean nothing. The added bonus is that it can be recharged numerous times making the price much more manageable over the long run! I run several tanks from a 90 planted community, 135 Gallon very overstocked African Cichlid and a 220 gallon SA/CA tank with a few very large Oscars! Other than my scratched up Oscar glass the water is crystal clear! I run 1000 ML in each of my 5 Fluval FX6 canisters.2 on my 135 & 3 on my 220. I have them so every 3 months I am removing it from one canister and recharging it while I replace it with a batch I just recharged! Like I said nothing compares! It can last up to 6 months without a recharge but for me with my filter schedule it is just easier to do one canister every 3 month. Be sure if you are going to recharge you use plain Bleach nothing scented etc. You will need Seachem Prime once you are done with the Bleaching.FYI For those who do not understand how to use this here is a hint! You really need the Seachem fine mesh bag! If not expect this to go everywhere once you put it in your filtration! Don't whine saying it caused a problem when you didn't follow instructions on how to use! This only controls nitrates that would be expelled by micro organic waste that would be in your water coloum not captured by your filtration. This does nothing to actually lower your NITRATES if it does it would be minimal! If you have a nitrate issue try practicing better tank maintenance and or less feeding! When used correctly this stuff works perfectly for the job it is designed to do!

I’m a believer in carbon , BUT using Purigen in combination results in water that is cleaner & clearer . Over 15 years in salt & reef aquarium hobby , I’ve found there is no other product such as this .

This product works better than carbon, lasts much longer, and is reusable after cleaning with bleach. Has been working great in my marine aquarium and is well worth the money.

Product comes slightly orange. It is not used like a lot of reviews say it is.

I love this product! Does such a fantastic job of helping maintain perfect water parameters, and the fact that you get 1,000 ml for such a great price makes it even better. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no better water quality product on the market. I use it in both my 10 and 60 gallon tanks, and there will never be a time I DON’T use it.

Bought the Purigen and the suggested zip bag from seachem as suggested and once’s added to my filter housing the Purigen just started leaking out of the bag into my tank to where it looked like it was snowing. This stuff is all over my tank and most went straight through the bag that is recommended on the bottle. And to be sure it wasn’t just that bag I tried a 2nd seachem bag and it leaked aswel

Dear Yadier,ML is volume not weight ... it's virtually impossible to weigh Purigen or anything else with scales to determine volume. Volume is a calculation of space not weght.How does a scale know the difference between a cup of lead or a cup of Purigen? It doesn't!
