A Clear Guide to Solar PV Design & Installation

Very good content-wise. Very practical content. Need some fine tuning revision, the narration and flow of the topics can be improved.

Good book, delivered on time

There was a time when it was necessary to use a lot of text to convince people to use a very expense technology like PV. This is not needed anymore, since a the majority can justify investing in a PV installation just on cost savings on electricity alone. It would have been a better book if it focussed more on actual installation risks, do's and don'ts.

This book is exactly what it says it is: an excellent introduction to solar PV design. Anyone interested in the field should read this book first. It gives a clear and concise overview of the subject, and good additional background information about the history of the technology, and the sales process.As an engineer I particularly liked Chapter 6, which goes over in step-by-step fashion the design of a small 4.5 kW system. The serious engineering student would then go on to read the text "Photovoltaic Systems Engineering," by R. Messenger and J. Ventre. Unfortunately, that text does not follow A. Zimdahl's very clear step-by-step approach. But after going through the case study in "A Clear Guide to Solar PV Design and Installation," the student will be well prepared to handle a more detailed presentation.My only complaint about the this book is that I wish there was a little more information on the important issues of a good installation. Just as a design checklist is included in the back of the book, an installation checklist would have been great.In summary: I highly recommend this book.

I bought this on a whim, thinking it would supplement the (much more expensive) textbook my instructor recommended. To my surprise, I actually prefer this book. The language is clear and the diagrams/illustrations are incredibly helpful. Highly recommended.
