A great asset for trail work!
I've listed the Salomon Speedcross 3 as slightly smaller than expected as I would normally wear a size US 12 but this particular shoe is a better fit for me at 1/2-1 size larger, This is no big deal but a note of caution to purchasers as a tight fit is harder to live with than having a little bit of room in the toe box. This is my second pair and I think they are excellent for purpose. I use them for cardio workout on quite a steep local trail with varying terrain including good track surface, exposed tree roots, slippery mud/ clay surface, steep rock climb which can be quite wet on occasions. These shoes give excellent grip on all these surfaces, the tread on the sole is self clearing of mud/ debris to a large degree which inspires confidence to keep moving quickly with reduced risk of having a fall. The quick lace up system is great and the feature for tucking the lace completely away is perfect for rugged trail work. The shoe is very light, the name suggests it is designed for racing which I don't use them for. One thing I have done which has added more comfort to the shoe, is fitted another lightweight innersole beneath the Ortholite insole supplied with the shoe. I have found there is enough room in the shoe to do this. I haven't used them on hard road surfaces but I would think the concrete or coarse metal chip would be very aggressive on tread wear. I know with shoes that any particular brand doesn't suit everybody due to shoe design and variation in the shape of individuals feet. These shoes suit my foot shape and I would highly recommend that if you are into running trails or working out on trails that you try them on, if they fit I'm sure you will find them a great asset for trail work!

Excellent trail racing shoe
Bought these shoes specifically for racing in the Asics XTrail, a trail race which includes various conditions dirt, mud, streams, rocks, 854m summit then descent, etc. They performed perfectly in all conditions. My buddy was racing with Salomon XT Wings and in the steepest, muddiest climbs, my Speedcross would grip and stick where his foot would slide. Outstanding traction. Did not get wet until many miles and many puddles and mud holes, and even then stayed relatively dry. They did feel like they got a bit looser once wet and I could have stopped to tighten them up a bit. Not by much as I opted to keep racing and not stop with no problems, including a steep, fast and slippery descent. I experienced none of the inner soles problems mentioned by some, for which I was a bit aprehensive. My only worry would be for racing on hot days, for which I would recommend you do not buy the climashield (CS) but the regular Speedcross version, which I haven't tried. My feet stayed warm despite a start and summit below freezing. Perfect for Fall/Winter races. Also the lugs do wear a bit faster on asphalt, but then you should not be looking at Speedcross if you're looking for road racers. Very satisfied with my purchase.

These shoes are awesome
I bought these because I am a competitive shooter and I shoot in both IDPA and USPSA. IDPA doesn't allow cleats, and USPSA does. These shoes (and lets not kid ourselves these shoes are basically comfortable cleats) are considered trail shoes by IDPA standards and are therefore legal for both disciplines. I wanted a shoe that was durable and useable in all shooting sports, so I went with these. They are waterproof, comfortable, and have an awesome grip for when I need to accelerate quickly. Saloman you get an A for these shoes! The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that they get a little warm on hot summer days, and I am picky. They do what they are supposed to do though. The lacing system is awesome, pull to tighten, release to take the shoes off. no tying at all.

I love these shoes
I love the look of these shoes. I wanted an outdoor rugged shoe that still looked like a tennis shoe and these fit the bill. The cinch tie is very strong even though it looks thin and weak. I also like the gusseted tongue-I haven't tested the climashield waterproof aspect yet but will eventually. The shoe is narrow so if you have wide feet this may not work for you. The tread of the shoe is perfect for trails especially hills where you will grip the terrain like spider man. However, on linoleum floors it does slide just a bit(it feels like the equivalent of being on a greasy floor). Overall it's a great shoe even greater for hiking and trail running.

These shoes are insane!!!!! Super Trail Shoe
I have worn these to many obstacle races, Warrior Dash, Super Spartans, and the Tough Mudder. Killer grip, super durable. When your done just remove the sole insert and spray with a hose! Let dry and destroy the trail the next day. I have had no trouble with grip or traction with these. Lacing system is great! Others tape when they race no need here, tighten and these babies and they stay put even with your leg submerged in 1 foot of nasty mud. I even sold my Girlfriend on buying a pair. She hasn't tried them yet but she is going to love them. As with all Salomon products they are silly durable! I have tried to sell all of my racing friends on these. A super buy and will last forever.I have had these close to 3 years, Great Colors I would buy another pair just to have. Great trail shoe and is water proof until abut halfway up the shoe.

I speaky de'truth...
On the first trial run of these trail shoes, I had three 11 year old boys with me and two dogs. They wanted to play war in the woods, so we went for a walk...then we went off trail and up the side of very steep incline. I thought I would poop out and the kids would laugh at me. Well, right away I noticed that my traction seriously kept my energy focused into the climb, the boys were winded, and I was as well ahead of them, but the shoes were like 4-wheel drive traction and while the boys were losing traction...every step I took produced more climb... Another thing I noticed was my feet were dry in a elements sort of way, it was snowing and the ground was soggy...but the cold and wet never got to my feet. I had a pair of Merrel's but they are clearly outclassed by these shoes in weight, traction, and comfort. When I first pulled these out of the box I was sort of feeling ripped off and walked down to the corner store with them, I didn't like them...but all that changed when I took them into the trails. One last detail that I was shocked and overjoyed with was washing these shoes off. The mud just washed away without any hassle, they washed off like scuba diving fins (materially speaking). I am seriously impressed by these shoes. I no longer walk down to the store with them...too precious for that.

SUPER SHOE
I was finally able to put this shoe to the test. I put 20 or so kilometers on them before I ran a 1/2 marathon "trail" and I have to say, they ROCK! The conditions were: Asphalt "dry & wet", sandy trail, at times flooded like small streams due to the run off from thunderstorms, rocky streams, clay loamy soil agriculture, wet asphalt with slimy moss and of course straight uphill mud! The shoes never faltered, never hesitated to just keep going. The tread is amazing, it does not hold matter, but does grab it and release it. Im a heavy person, 110kg and am hard on gear, this shoe didn't give way at all. As far as water, the shoe was under water or subjected to rain the entire run, and got rid of it quickly. I wore Thorlo socks, and had some signs of immersion foot, but is was not too bad, quick recovery. The speed cross tightening system didn't falter or slip at all. Thanks much,
J**.
Solid shoe for running and hiking, but a little snug in the toebox, and the Climashield did NOT work!
I'll give these shoes a mixed review. On the one hand, they are snug, comfortable, and rugged. They give excellent grip on virtually all surfaces, and make it very easy to maintain sure footing, even on very uneven terrain. The heel design in particular is great because it self-rights if you strike off-axis, preventing an ankle roll! They are great looking, and the kevlar laces and lace garage features are fantastic. They really are a good shoe overall. However… The toe box is pretty narrow, so be sure to buy a full size above your size, and try them on in a store first if possible. I usually wear either an 11.5 or a 12, and in these I had to buy a 13! (I've never needed a 13 in any other shoe in my life.) The biggest gripe, and this one is huge, is that the Climashield and waterproofing stuff just did not work for me. It prevented my feet from getting wet during only very brief splashes (such as running across a very small stream, or stepping in a mud puddle), but when exposed to wet snow, they wetted out and froze almost immediately. So much so, in fact, that I've considered reporting this to Salomon as a manufacturing defect. It was really bad. On an 18 mile mountain hike, I found myself with freezing cold, soaking wet feet, and had to actually take off the shoes and put plastic bags in them to prevent frostbite. Not cool! So would I recommend them? Not the Climashield version. If you like the Speedcross 3, just go buy the regular version without the waterproofing or insulation. They'll breathe better, be lighter and probably cheaper too. Just remember to size up!

Sehr empfehlenswert.
