Review: Awesome Professional Style Crimper Tool For The Price! - I own a professional style wire stripper tool from the Irwin brand, and it does an excellent job of stripping wire. I've been using the crimper portion of that tool to do said crimps as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't always do a perfect job crimping, and it requires an abnormal amount of force applied, to make the crimp. It was time to step up to a professional style crimper, from the Wirefy brand. Obviously, for this price, this tool is 100% Chinese made. A truly American, German, or Japanese brand industrial ratcheting crimper tool, would cost you hundreds of dollars! If you look at the picture I have uploaded, showing the end of the crimper jaw, you can clearly see QC issues in regards to the metal quality. OK, so I have established that the quality of metal might be sub-par, but how does it perform? The good news is, it performs awesome! This was my first time using this style of crimper, so I was having issues at first, until I learned the best way to do it. My best advice, is to put the terminal connector in the jaw first, then begin crimping down till the metal jaw is just touching the terminal. (Don't crush it yet!) Then put the wire into the terminal, then start crimping the terminal and wire together, and then use both hands to make it easier. Once the crimp is made, the tool releases, and I felt I was left with a quality crimp. On all of the crimping jobs I did using fully insulated terminals, not one of them did the wire pull out! The tool has some heft to it, so it does have a heavy duty feel. The ratcheting mechanism seems to work well, and its not as loud as some other's I've heard, in people's Youtube video's. The handle has a good grip as well, the tool never slipped out of my hands. When the tool is in the closed position with the jaw empty, I can confirm what other's have said, it can be hard to push that little latch, to open the tool. But I still managed to do it anyways, so its not that big of an issue.
