You could use more or less. It is actually beautiful and inexpensive **Q: How many pieces will fit into a normal sized mason jar?** A: At least one piece will fit in a normal size mason jar. **Q: will these go outside when it's hot?** A: They can go outside in any weather. Beware though - they are NOT how they appear in the picture. They are extremely cheap and it shows. We ended up not even using these bc they were so horrible looking. I do not recommend buying these. **Q: What do you mean by 10 pieces? Can you show me a photo of what 1 piece is?** A: The whole bunch will fit in a mason jar. It's looks and moves like real baby's breath. Out of the package it's a little smashed. I took each stem and held it upside down while rapidly twisting it between my fingers to fluff it out. I also held each stem upside down and up against a clothes steamer to straighten them out and relax them with steam.
