Don't let the price fool you, NOT A GOOD DEAL!
5 minutes...took 5 minutes to stop working. The "infrared" remote is a sham. They obviously didn't design it because there is no good communication between the remote and the train. AND while it is nice this train fits on the wooden tracks, you can't play with it without the remote. It isn't a train that can be pushed around, it is only meant to move via the remote.Don't let the price fool you, I was like aww 16$ should be worth it...nope, it is not. It is just frustrating because I was sitting there trying to show my 4 year old the forward and back functions and they just stopped working. Oh and the return policy...not even worth it because I have to pay for shipping back.Spend a little extra money or go to the dollar store and find something at least you know more of what you get there.

Our son loves it. Works on Ikea tracks, right tracks toys (found on amazon), carpet, tile, wood, streets, driveways, under cars.... you get it. Just put the batteries in and your little one can be a conductor! There in an on/off switch under the front car. Your kid(s) hold the wand and press the left button to start it up and move the switch forward or backward depending which way they want the train to go. Then they press the button on the right to stop. I say kids, but my husband was the one playing with it Christmas morning...

Great for the 20min that it worked.
Really cuter, but broke within 1hour of opening. Not sure why, it was working great, tried it out, turned it off to open other presents. Later went back to it to play with it again and it would not come back on. Very disappointed.

Excellent R.C. Train for Young Kids
Santa brought us this train after our 3 year-old asked for a remote control train and we couldn't be happier. It is compatible with all wooden railway tracks (we have Melissa & Doug and Ikea sets). We love that it can go forwards or backwards. It also has a train whistle and light. Battery life seems pretty good, even for kids who are infamous for leaving motorized toys on. Even our 2 year-old can operate the simple remote. The only drawback is the coupling mechanisms are a little tricky for smaller kids to put together, but once it is together, it's great and doesn't come apart unless you want it to.

2 years later still working well
I purchased this in April 2014, 2 years ago. It was a HUGE hit with my eldest, & now #2 is playing with it. It's not GREAT construction as I've had to reglue part of the wheel on a few times, BUT, it's had a tremendous amount of use & still works well. I do feel like it goes through batteries really fast, but we do use it a lot.

It took eight batteries and didn't link with our existing cars that have the magnetic base on them to connect. I guess I should have checked it out. It just didn't serve our purpose.

Did NOT work!
You get what you pay for. This train barely worked since the day we got it. I really need to return it. It does not go in reverse and most of the time it wont go forward. We tried changing the battiers several times.
