can you use a glass palette instead? what are the dimensions of the palette,? would it be possible to swap for a glass palette separately?

The palette pulls out on the side, so I don't think it can be changed out.

While sitting, do you have to bend forward to reach your canvas?

I usually stand while painting, but twice i used it while sitting, and it was great. No need to bend forward the box is aprox 9" from the front edge to the canvas. Enjoy painting.

Can the easel hold a wet panel when the pochade box is closed without it making contact with the paint on the palette? Thanks so much.

Yes, there is a compartment in the base of the unit that can hold a wet panel of a variety of sizes (different slotted inserts), I have measured it up and a standard size of 12 inch x 9 inch fits nicely

What kind of tripod do I need to buy that will go with this product?

I purchased this easel as a gift and did not buy a tripod to go with it but I would suggest a tripod that is full sized so it can adjusted whether you are using while standing or sitting
