Great Cutter Easy to Use if Done Correctly
Well made and good looking bagel cutter. If used correctly will prevent you cutting your fingers off. First, make sure you oil the cutter and after each use clean with a paper towel. Every once and a while oil it again. It has a wide base which will keep the bagel steady. Put the bagel in the cutter and apply the knife, pressing down firmly enough to keep the bagel from rotating as you cut. It the bagel starts rotating, try different pressure on the knife... one pressure, applied to a particular bagel will cut the bagel and prevent it from rotating. Cut only until you bottom out on the wood at the bottom... rotate the bagel 180 degrees and then repeat the cut... you will only have a small slice to complete the cut so the bagel cuts in two pieces. Pros:It works great on all bagels with a little practice. You'll save your fingers and other body parts. Looks good enough to have out in the kitchen as a decoration. Easy to clean, and maintain. Fast. Cons:None.

Useful, good looking, well crafted.
This is a nice item. Beautiful wood, and well crafted. I like the design - small footprint to store, but still w a "handle" to hold while cutting. It fits the bagels I buy well - just firm enough that I can keep fingers well away, which is the point ...

Good enough, could be slightly taller
I'm happy with the holder. I wanted to move away from plastic. My only criticism is that the part that holds the bagel could be taller. It's about half the height of a bagel, so you will have to hold the bagel in place as you start the cut and then work to target the center. I've already started slicing into the wood a bit if the cut is off. This does what I need and helps avoid cutting your hand when slicing bagels. It does its basic job.

Not the most practical
Wanted to love this product, but it is not the most practical to use. The Bagel needs to be the right size which is hit or miss, then when cutting the bagel it seems to slide around a lot. Ended up returning as not easy to actually use.

I have loved this bagel slicer for years!!!
We had a bagel slicer just like this when I was younger. I was so pleased to find it again. It assures that I donโt slice my fingers off when I cut bagels!!

Not functional for cutting a bagel with a serrated knife
This looks nice but thatโs all it does. Trying to slice a bagel with a serrated knife just causes the bagel to spin in the holder u less you hold it steady with your handsโฆ defeating the purpose entirely (these were big bagels, fit was not the issue). The only way to cut through is to just mash straight down and have the knife edge tear through the bagel. Fashion over function this thing sadly was

Nice touch for the kitchen
This is something you want to leave out on your counter. A great alternative to the guillotine like plastic ones. Works very well for bagels. I use it for potatoes too.

not very helpful for my bagels
This item looks pretty on my shelf where it will probably remain until I have a yard sale. The opening isn't large enough to hold our ginormous local bagels (I wish they sold the size the device is designed to hold, but that's another review.) And if I do manage to stuff all that bagel into the device, it just doesn't secure the bagel well enough to permit a clean easy cut. Yeah it's probably better than holding the bagel in your hand to slice it and risking a trip to the ER, but if you can bear to have yet another plastic thing and can afford it, go with a bagel guillotine.

Save your hands
Depending on the size of the bagel, this little tool can come in handy. You start by making a slit on the bagel, then place it in the holder and cut it all the way through. Voila, hands and fingers are saved since you hold the instrument with the handle, away from the knife.

Badly Designed
Almost impossible to actually use with a bagel as the knife grooves are too narrow. Other models available work well.

Disappointed
The quality was definitely not great. The handle was not attached when it arrived. And there is a crack in the wood where the handle is to be attached. Would like to return it but having difficulty contacting the company.
