Answering Children's Questions About Death
What happens when someone dies? Do you ever wonder? The author, Julia Alvarez, has written a wonderful book about death that attempts to answer every child's questions. However, as I read the book, I realized this is a book for everyone. Told in rhyme format, this book looks at what is around us, at all of nature's glories, and at our feelings and actions. Children most often ask their parents about death, and it is up to the parent to try and decipher an answer that is not too complicated. After all, none of us really knows what does happen. Our religions may give us an answer of sorts. We carry most people in our hearts, and that is where they may stay.Adults will find this book helpful as a resource for their children. This will be a very useful book to read whenever anyone we know dies. It is good to get all our feelings out, so that we can talk about them. Children, as we know, may not know how to ask the question, and how to assimilate the answers. The illustrations by Sabra Field, go hand in hand with the verse, one without the other would not work as well to soothe our souls. The illustrations are big, bright and colorful, and depict each verse and each feeling. This book is just what is needed to help us through our own grief, and also to assist our children through theirs. Every library, every school and every home should have this book readily available.Recommended. prisrob 12-04-16

A must book for your home library
This is a beautiful and sensitive book with illustrations representing our diverse world. This book will help children talk about death when they don't have the vocabulary or the courage to ask difiicult questions about death. One of the by products is that it will help children ask the questions they've been holding back, making the discussion with an adult much easier. I've given one to each of my children and have one here at home. Death can come in the way of a beloved pet, a dear friend, a loving family member. A must book to have in your home library.

Nice for children
I bought it because I'm very fond of Sabra Field. The rhyming patterns are a disappointment, but the main theme is good.

Where does this go?
Quite peaceful approach to questions about death. The drawings are gentle and loving. The message felt incomplete.
