There was plenty of space for my toes to not feel crowded and yet it was not too long a shoe that I'm tripping over them. Fantastic shoes, will probably buy another pair at some point. Totally in love with these. The chain links bend easily so keep that in mind if they catch on things. I only mention this because I make chainmaille and the links I could press back together with my fingers, easy fix but could also be an easy break.
