My new favorite all purpose moisture product!
I love this stuff. Recently introduced to Kbeauty, and this is one of the "holy grail" products I have read about on the kbeauty reddit thread, and elsewhere. Japanese product, not Korean, made by a sake company very interesting story, and product, one of the Japanese drug store cult favorites among Asian beauty enthusiasts. I recently ordered the white, or "regular" version also, which has alcohol in it, (the pink does not) and is slightly less sticky when applied, for which reason I have switched from the pink to the white as my body lotion, although I am still using the pink for my face toner before the rest of my routine. The pink version is called "high moist" , the white is the original one, I believe, and it made my face break out a little bit when I first tried it, something other users have reported also. Apparently if you stick with it, some people adjust after their skin "purges", other people continue to have issues with the white version but not the pink, and of course for a few unlucky users, neither work out at all, which is a shame since this product is awesome and affordable. I have decanted both into small spray bottles for easier access, and it has completely replaced my body lotion, even though I live in a hot and dry climate. The pink one is definitely more moisturizing, and can even feel a little sticky, I use it when really dry skin, otherwise, white version is my go-to. I love the scent and consistency; for me it smells like bubble gum, and even tastes a little sweet, the scent evaporates immediately, and the watery solution quickly sinks into the skin. Apparently is the hylauranic acid and ceramides which provide the magical moisturizing properties. I really cant say enough about this product, the bottle is huge, great price, I love everything about it except for the crazy pump, but minor detail.

Great for hydration and 7 skins method
I bought this product after reading many, many reviews. I’m a 37 year old female with slightly dehydrated and oil-prone skin. I’ve been using this product morning and night for two months, and I love this product! I want to address some of the concerns I saw in the reviews prior to buying now that I have been using it for a while. Consistency: this is a water-like, moisturizing TONER like what you find in Korean or Japanese skincare. This is NOT a toner in the traditional American sense (astringent), and this is NOT a thick lotion. It is not meant to be the only moisturizing step in your skincare routine, although it may work in that way for some people (not me). My routine: I use this as the first step after washing my face. I follow the 7 skins method, applying two to three layers of product, patting in with my hands. I have never used more than three layers, as I find it very hydrating. This product is perfect for the 7 skins method – or however many “skins” you want to apply. I follow up with hyaluronic acid while my face is still damp, then serums, a thick moisturizer, and then sunscreen. Even using one layer of product provides a good amount of hydration if you do not want to follow 7 skins. Price/volume: this is a HUGE amount of product for a very cheap price, which is great since I use multiple layers morning and night. After two months, I’ve used less than ¼ of the bottle. Pump: lots of people seem to hate the pump. I don’t mind it. I put my palm right under the spout, and slowly press down with my other hand and have no problem controlling the amount that comes out. Smell: the product has a slightly sweet, fermented sake smell. It isn’t bad, but I’m not particularly sensitive to smells. I notice the smell a bit when applying, but it fades to nothing once dry. Results: my face is very well hydrated, even in the middle of Michigan winter. I feel like this product in combination with hyaluronic acid provides great hydration and preps my skin for other serums like vitamin C and retinol. I have not experienced any sensitivity or breakouts. If you have fungal acne or suspect that you have fungal acne, you should do your research and see a dermatologist. This product could make it worse due to the fermented rice filtrate.

Extremely moisturizing, helps enhance other products!
I use this as a first toning essence in my skincare routine and find that it helps my subsequent products/layers absorb into my skin a little better. I first read about this on the Asian Beauty subreddit. Other users seemed to have great success with this, and I was looking to add an FTE with a little moisture kick to my routine. This totally fits the bill. The bottle is quite large and tinted pink (the product itself is a hazy/milky almost clear). The pump is a little too effective - it squirts out too much product, so I ended up decanting this into a smaller bottle (I cleaned out an old CosRx bottle and that worked perfectly!). For travel, I decanted into a tiny spray bottle and it mists very nicely on my face and allows me to really control the amount of product I'm getting. The consistency is quite watery, and I just add a little to my clean hands before slathering all over my face and neck. I suppose you could pump the product onto a cotton ball or pad, but I feel like you'd be losing a lot of product that way. Because this is a ferment, there is a scent to this product. I wouldn't call it strong, but it's pronounced. It smells of over-ripe bananas. To me, the smell is pleasant, but I can see how some might find it off-putting. Edit: Aug 2018 - I am still very much in love with this product. And realized it makes a SUBSTANTIAL difference in my moisture game. A story: I'd been using this for a few months with great success, but I'd been happy with my routine before adding this, so I figured I'd be OK without it on a 5-night vacation. Nope! Without it, I found that my other products did not absorb nearly as well, my skin wasn't as plump and dewy, and it just felt kind of blah. Lesson learned. This is truly a holy grail and I won't want to be without it. Edit April 2019: I still use this product twice daily (morning and evening routines). I've also started using it for DIY sheet masks. As we all know, sheet masking is THE GREATEST, and the results can be fantastic. To get my sheet mask fix without breaking the bank, I started buying the little compressed, dry sheet masks here on Amazon, and creating little single-use "potions" to saturate them in. The Kikumasamune is PERFECT for this as a main ingredient. I'll start with soaking the dry sheet mask in the Kiku. After it saturates and expands, I'll add my other ingredients. But the Kiku is so lovely and watery, that it's crucial to get the mask started.

Great budget toner with ceramides.
Budget friendly, good amount, moisturizing toner. The texture is very watery, fast absorbing, no stickiness left behind. The pump is not the best choice for packaging such a liquid toner, but is usable. I will put it in my empty Hada Labo bottle, which is a more practical to use flip lid dispenser. I hoped to find a cheaper product to replace Hada Labo premium toner-lotion (contains 5 kinds of hyaluronic acid), unfortunately this product can not replace it. There is no hyaluronic acid in it. It has 2 ceramides, placenta extract, rice ferment filtrate (sake), glutamate, arginine, arbutin. It softens the skin very well. I notice it compliments my Hada Labo toner, making it and my other skin care work better with better noticable results. Here is my skin care regime. I put Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion High Moisture first, then follow with Hadalabo JAPAN Skin Institute Gokujun premium hyaluronic solution (which is more like a serum texture, not a toner), CeraVe Skin Renewing Gel Oil (around the eyes and lips, this is close to Elizabeth Arden ceramide serum in capsules) and DONGKOOK CENTELLIAN24 Super rich moisturizing Madeca facial cream or BOTANIC HEAL BOH] Derma Intensive Panthenol Cream. This skin care routine is excellent for me with dry , very sensitive skin over 40. It keeps my skin soft, supple, almost wrinkle-free and well hydrated. I think for ladies under 35, this is an excellent choice to use this toner with Kose Grace one perfect milk (white or red bottles). A few people complained about the fragrance in Kikumasamune Sake lotion, it does have a light sweet-fermented smell, but the smell disappearing in a few seconds. I can only smell it right after pumping the lotion onto my hand or unscrew the bottle and smelling it from the bottle. I can not imagine anybody could get nauseous from it, like somebody have said, unless pregnant. The fragrance is light, fast disappearing and 20 times lighter than Lancôme creams, lotion and toners, Ester Lauder creams, toners, Missha oriental lines or even Sulwhasoo Ginseng cream....

GAME CHANGER.
Wow, this stuff is great. Large bottle. Good price. SUPER EFFECTIVE. Some solid ingredients, some odd. More on this later. I use it AM/PM as a hydrating toner/essence. After cleansing, I give the bottle a shake and dispense about a pump full into my cupped palm (it’s straight up liquid, but don’t be fooled by the consistency, this stuff packs a punch.) I tap my palms together And pat onto my face, I follow up with a facial oil (eve Hansen’s golden rose hip oil blend) and a light spf moisturizer for daytime (You’ll find you don’t really need additional moisture after this and a facial oil.) At night I’ll cleanse and then tone with this product, apply the rosehip oil and add moisturizer around my eyes and dry spots (I love Paula’s choice skin recovery hydrating treatment “mask” which is more like a super thick moisturizer.) I bought the Eve Hansen oil at the same time, so I feel inclined to give a shout-out to that product. The two products combined have given me a glow like no other... i have semi sensitive skin, and no irritation has occurred. I can’t believe how much this has affected my skin. I didn’t even get a hormonal breakout this month. My skin is bouncy, glowy... damn. Oh, two possible cons... the smell... meh. I’m not affected by it. It dissipates after drying... its mild. It’s like a light whiff of sake and bananas. Not bad at all. The other possible con is, this product does have.... placenta extract. Upon further research I found that the particular placenta used in this product is from a horse... this may turn many people off for many reasons. As I dug deeper into the depths of internet and all things placenta (which hasn’t been scientifically proven to have a drastic positive effect on skin cells- yet Is still found in many products,) I found that the placentas come from horses intended for consumption- which may sound strange and terrible, but that is not so strange in Japan. As someone who consumes meat and uses animal derived products, I found my peace with it, because if I were to be against that, I should be against many many things that I do. With all of that said- Would I recommend this product. Yes.

Luminous skin? Yes please.
When I first opened my package, I thought they accidentally sent me toner. This product is watery. But I decided to try it anyway and I can't tell you how happy I am that I did. It's blown every moisturizer I've ever used out of the water. One pump covers my face and neck, and is quickly absorbed in my skin. It has a very light smell that disappears quickly. I use it twice daily, and have gotten many compliments on how luminous my skin has been looking. I'm extremely pale and typically look like a haunted Victorian doll without makeup, but since I've been using this somehow there is color on my face and I look healthy without foundation? I haven't gotten any breakouts, redness or irritation from using this product. My skin is neither oily nor dry, but I've been moisturizing my face twice daily for years which solved my previous "combination skin" problems. This product continues making skin being happy, but better than all the other moisturizers I've tried before - whatever magic is in it has made me go without foundation and people have stopped asking if I'm sick and asking me WHY IS YOUR SKIN GLOWING? I love it. It's definitely worth a try, don't let the viscosity of the product discourage you!

Great product, if you are not sensitive to ferments.
This was my first hydrating toner and I really wanted to like it. First, it does have a smell; I found it pleasant but it does smell strongly of sake, so YMMV. I found this to be very lightweight, hydrating, and easy to apply. Some reviewers said this was sticky; I agree, but if you allow it to dry the stickiness goes away. The packaging could use some work. The pump dispenses the product with so much force that I end up spilling a little every time I use this. I would decant this into a smaller bottle or replace the pump. My first impressions led me to believe this toner would be amazing for my skin, but I must be sensitive to ferments, because this product broke me out. I've never used ferments in a product before. Within two days of using it morning and evening, I had three large, painful red cysts and whiteheads dotted along my chin, temples, and forehead. I have recently started birth control, and I know that can cause acne, but to be on the safe side I stopped using the Kikumasamune Lotion and went back to a very simple routine. Within a week, the cysts have disappeared, and some of the whiteheads are gone. While my birth control is partly to blame for my breakouts, after withdrawing the Kikumasamune Lotion I did improve, so I must've had an adverse reaction to an ingredient, most likely the ferments. Patch test and be careful; if you aren't sensitive to these ingredients, then this might be an excellent product for you!

Great hydrator, weird banana smell that does not linger
My face was really dry this winter and this really helped. Along with sunscreen, my face feels really soft and this coming from a face that was previously shedding a ton due to dryness. It feels like water and comes in a big amount. Only downside is that it smells a lot like banana when you first apply but the scent leaves almost immediately. It doesn’t really need much time to absorb so it is perfect when you’re in a rush and need skin hydration.

Great product
This product lasts a really long time, no matter how generously I use it. It helps my skin stay hydrated and I layer it under a moisturiser.

Excelente
