Do you need to buy the specticide separately or does it come with the purchase of these bags?

These bags come with a chemical pheromone bait that you place on the top of the bags. The beetles are attracted to it and fall down into the bag where most get trapped. These Rescue bags work much better than the Spectracide Bag-a-bug traps.

Flying beetles are attracted to my patio light and come inside when I open the sliding door. Will this help the problem when hung ?

It should help , l set a couple around the garden and it trapped 100's of Japanese beetles

What do you do with the bugs when you empty the trap? Since I assume they are still alive, and you don’t want them going back to your plants...?

I dump the now dead bugs into a small trash bag, seal tight just in case any are still alive, and let the trash man take they away.

Do these bags have a drain hole when it rains?

The rain water flows through the bottom closure. I get a lot of rain and did not have problems with the bag retaining water.
