Review: The ABSOLUTE BEST carpet shampooer on the market - I rarely review products, mainly because I just don’t have time. This carpet cleaner is the absolute best that I have ever used. I have had three other ones that basically just don’t do the job fully. This machine works like a dream. It’s simple to assemble and cleaning it up is the most simple process. All the parts come off, including the brushes so you can truly sanitize it after you’re done. It doesn’t weigh a lot, so it’s easy to lift and carry up stairs. The size is also not massive so it doesn’t take much space to store. I 100% recommend this carpet shampooer and will recommend to all my friends and family. It does not leak and the price is a complete bargain. If you’re on the fence, get off goofy, this is the one!
Review: I would recommend the Hoover SmartWash+ machine - I am happy with the performance of this carpet cleaner machine. I like the fact the waste water tank top opens fully making it easy to clean. I like that you can easily remove the brushes and cover for the brushes for easy cleaning. I love that there is a separate soap dispenser rather than having to add soap to the water tank. This makes it easier to rinse the soap out of the carpet by simply removing the soap dispenser, no need to empty a water/soap mix tank and refill with plain water. There is a small learning curve with managing how much water/soap is put down on the carpet, the slower you move the machine forward the more water/soap is put into the carpet. I tested first on a couple long carpet runners to figure out the right speed. With the right speed laying down the water/soap, sucking it up, rinsing with clean water then drying didn't take long at all and the carpet cleaned up well (we have two dogs). I am happy with the suction power. I would recommend this machine to others. The clean water tank had a small crack in the top of it right out of the box, but customer service was great and I had no problem getting a replacement, which I received in a short amount of time. Kudos to Hoover customer service.

**Q: Does it heat the water**
A: Fill the water container with the hottest water I can get from the faucet, and then add a pot (about two liters) of boiled water from our hot water pot. Hasn’t had any adverse effect on the plastic or the seals, and I’ve cleaned about 2000 sq feet of carpet and one stairway… probably 3-4 days of steady work, with no problems whatsoever.

**Q: How does this machine do with hair? No matter how much i vaccum, there is hair.  Does it get stuck in the brushes too badly?**
A: I have a cat so hair is a major problem for me. The Smartwash does pick up the hair and it can get stuck in the nozzle going to the dirty water tank.  The brushes will stop.  But it is fairly easy to clean both the nozzle and brushes.  It is easy to disconnect the pieces to clean.  This machine does a good job of cleaning.  Instructions are clear and easy to follow.  I do recommend that you follow the rinse instructions after using the cleaner.  It rinses the carpet to remove the cleaning solution from the rug.  All you do is remove the bottle with the cleaner solution and go over the carpet again with just clean water.

**Q: Can I purchase any carpet shampoo to use within hoover, for example an oxy shampoo for carpet and vehicle seating and floor?**
A: As the other answers have already stated, the short answer is yes you can technically use any cleaning solution you'd like work this (and basically any and every other items you use). I mean, it's not like the machines know if you're using a different solution other than the brand who manufactured the machine so technically yeah you can. However, the solution that's suggested for the machine does work a little better and I like how the solution contains a quick dry formula in it so the carpets dry much faster when I've used that. 

So this is not at all advised for others to try because well, like I said already, the manufacturer prefers that the same brand of cleaning solution is used, which is what I do every other time i clean my floors, but on the times in between using their brand of cleaner I make my own! I usually just use a combination of vinegar, blue dawn dish soap, peroxide and liquid fabric softener. I personally add 2 caps full of snuggle fabric softener into the actual water reservoir every single time I use it. It helps make my house smell good and keeps my carpets nice and soft too. But again, these little tips are not recommended by the manufacturer so try it at your own risk of you decide to do so.

**Q: Can I use this machine and just rinse my carpet to get all the soap out?**
A: Yes, you can just rinse your carpet with plain water when using the Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible & Easy to Use!

I bought this as a last resort after my little green machine died, and I inherited a very elderly dog who is prone to accidents*. I truly did not think that this would be the answer to all of my problems, however, I figured it would be worth a shot and cheaper than hiring or renting a carpet cleaner every month. When I took it out of the box, it was exceptionally easy to put together. It was lightweight, but I was skeptical as to how heavy it would be when filled with fluid and water. Assembly was easy, but we all know how these carpet cleaning gadgets can be when it comes to emptying and cleaning out the actual machine after using it. Imagine my absolute amazement when I finally decided to tackle the upstairs hallway stains and was more than pleasantly surprised that the machine works beautifully. Not only is it lightweight and easy to maneuver, there is also a clear indicator on the bottom when it is washing and drying, and you can easily set it to dry only mode when you want to get up the excess moisture without having to put more cleaning solution on the carpet. I went over problem spots multiple times, and I was not under any impression that it would get rid of every old stain immediately even with multiple passes. However, I was shocked at how well a job it did considering. One session in half of the bedroom and the hallway (going over multiple problems spots multiple times) just about drained both the water tank and the cleaning solution tank, but honestly, with the amount of carpet I have in my house vs. the cost of renting a carpet cleaner for the weekend, this thing has already paid for itself in my mind. After I cleaned, here comes the bad part: disassembling and making sure that the machine Itself is not disgusting when I’m done. The dirty water tank snapped off super easily, and I was able to empty it in the bathtub with no fuss and no dirty hands. Because I have pets, the area around the scrub brushes was a bit caked with residual wet hair (not embedded in the brushes, mind you, which I was shocked about) but I was easily able to snap the plastic piece off to also clean it in the tub. I no longer go upstairs and feel like I am walking on a giant expensive used pee pad. This even feels like it will be good for small jobs because it is so crazy easy to fill and clean. Maybe even easier than my little green machine. Time will tell if this will continue working as it has from this first time, but for now I am sold. 10/10. *The pup is well, just very old. She has regular vet visits and is on medication, she’s just very blind, deaf, and gets confused as to where she is sometimes. We’ve tried LOTS of things to try to get her not to do this. It’s not her fault, and if I had to live in a giant expensive pee pad to make her last days amazing I totally would! But now I’m glad I don’t have to! :)
