How long will the five gallon container remain fresh, and how is it best stored?

Honey never goes bad. However, it will granulate in 9-12 months. It can be stored in the cupboard or on the counter, no problem.

On their website it says: The packaging process begins with warming the honey in order to package the honey efficiently and effectively. This warming process does not pasteurize the honey. Cox’s Honey stays well below the threshold of ‘over-heating’ the honey.

Does it have sugar? it says 16g on the label

Is it normal for a black ring to form around the top of unopened container of honey?

I guess that black ring inside the container may be some kind of mold or bacteria growth and it sounds suspicious to me. I did not have such problem. However the honey that I bought had a plain sweet taste with just a hint of usual honey flavor and was very runny. Seemed like low quality or fake. Unfortunately this product was non returnable.
