Judge Gratin Dish

I wanted a small dish to grill individual burgers or a couple of sausages etc and I prefer cast iron to coated non-stick pans. This one is great at this price and the wooden serving tray is just a handy bonus as a pot stand for use straight out of the oven. I really don't understand the numerous reviews for many cast iron pans that talk about rust or discolouration or food sticking...as long as you do the following:1. season it well before first use2. let it cool after cooking in it, and then clean it using just hot water and a steel (or similarly tough) scourer (no soap!) and definitely don't put in a dishwasher3. make sure it's fully dry straight away...don't let it sit in a dish rack4. do not cook acidic foods like tomatoes or vinegar in it (it will remove the seasoning)5. wipe a little vegetable oil over the full cooking surface with a paper towel.Following these simple rules I've never had to re-season a pan and all my cast iron pans (and carbon steel ones) are more non-stick than teflon. The more you use them the more non-stick they become!

This is great and very useful in a variety of ways, perfect when cooking for just one.

Really good quality and somehow the pies taste better! Wash easily, but I do soak them first. I also always put oil in them after they are washed.

Sealing instructions totally inadequate and useless.

This isn't the quality you expect from Judge. The iron is textured instead of smooth and the handles jagged so when I initially went to start seasoning it through washing with liquid and a scouring pad I cut myself and am still healing (metal cuts take ages to heal). It seems pretty flimsy, like if washed enough times bits are gonna start chipping off. It's also tinier than expected despite the dimensions given in the product description. I bought it for a relative and they seem to think it'll do, but personally I would've sent it back for my money.
