California Costumes Men's Saturday Night Fever Costume

This costume won my husband first prize in a disco costume contest!!! (He has a naturally hairy chest so perfect for his costume). He wore it with a large gold (plastic) DISCO medallion necklace, it sort of needs that to look finished. The jacket is surprisingly good quality. It is long enough that if you leave it on, you don't have to worry about what some reviews say about the pants being see through. We had no problem with that. My husband is 5'9" or 10". I cut off about 3" from the bottom of the pants since he didn't want to wear platform shoes. The fabric is fine with a raw edge, it doesn't fray. The costume instruction for all 3 pieces say "spot clean only, no water or dry cleaning". Too bad! It looks like it could handle a gentle washing and is polyester so I don't understand what the problem with washing it is. I think I am going to try it anyways. The pants have elastic in the back. The only issue is the suit has zero pockets anywhere on it. How dumb is that?! So men, expect to stash your keys, etc. in your date's purse.

First of all, the package was ripped and held together with rubber bands. Then upon further examination, the pants had been CLEARLY WORN BY SOMEONE!! The pant cuffs were filthy! Unfortunately this costume is needed for a 70's birthday party on New Year's eve, in 2 days. There is no way to return and get something else by then. The instructions say to "SPOT CLEAN ONLY", well I had to try to clean these so I sprayed with Oxiclean and washed with detergent and bleach on gentle cycle and was incredibly disappointed that absolutely NOTHING helped. This product was NOT SOLD AS PREVIOUSLY WORN. Not to mention the $50 I have wasted. BUYER BEWARE!!!!😡

We couldn't find anything at thrift stores (save your time and effort), the material is thin, but the overall look is great. We bought large and I would call it at least "extra large". Normal size for my husband is large shirt, size 34 pants, 5'11" tall. We safety pinned the waist of pants, and rolled them up. and opted to wear a normal black long sleeve shirt underneath the white jacket, as it would have been too cold without another shirt. We were concerned the fabric was so thin it was a bit see through, so my husband wore long thermal underwear and that fixed all worries. The tags say spot clean and don't iron. Well, I ironed it....no problems and got out creases from packaging. I also put it through normal washing machine and dryer and it looks great. We have never had so many comments...people thought it was over the top and loved it. Definitely worth the money even for a one time event.

Returning. I am 6 feet tall with a 42-inch waist. I ordered an XL.There are three parts to this costume; the jacket, the slacks and the vest/collar. There is no shirt. If you take off the jacket, your shoulders and arms are bare. Now for sizing issues.The waist of the bell-bottom slacks stretched just enough for a snug fit around my waist. However, the slacks were way too long. At 6-feet tall, I would probably need 4-inch platform shoes to keep from stepping on the fabric. A seamstress can fix the length issue if you want to spend the money.The jacket fit. I did not try to button it though. The arms were probably less than an inch too long. Again, easily fixed.The vest/collar combo poses a problem though. First, the black faux-shirt collar doesn't flare out like the picture. Perhaps a lot of starch and ironing can fix this. Second, and the killer for this costume, is the bottom of the vest. It does not reach the waist of the slacks. For me, that means my average "belly" will be quite visible. A long white t-shirt tucked into the slacks might make this less obvious, but then the open collar "chest" becomes an open-collar t-shirt. Kills the costume. I thought about posting a photo, but vanity suggested otherwise. You'll have to trust me.I don' recommend this because of the vest and extra costs for a seamstress.

Ordered this for a 70's inspired gala at my company's annual meeting. I have drawn a crowd on the dance floor at this event for over a decade, but this one stood out a bit with the get-up.As for the fit, being very tall, but also thin-(6'2", ~178 lbs) it is often difficult for me to fit perfectly into the "S/M/L/XL" categories if it applies to both the top and bottom simultaneously. That being said I figured I'd rather have them a little baggy and look for a way to fasten them if needed, than to have them too short, and too tight-and me be uncomfortable all night. So the length was just about right, but it was a little baggy on me-both top and bottom which is what I was expecting.A warning, it is a 3 piece and there is not much to the vest. But being a 3 piece, it allowed for removal of the jacket to cool down some when needed (very helpful). The quality of the outfit honestly was really good overall. My only complain here is that the vest had a lot of threads dangling from the end points-like the stitching had excess and they never bothered to cut it off. This actually is the only thing that I would point to in why I didn't give it 5 stars. Just because it diminished the overall look.As for the response...it was great. My colleagues loved it and it completely served the purpose. I looked good, the people around me enjoyed it...and I was comfortable all night.I have yet to try to clean the outfit though...so I'll have to try to update after said attempt.I would definitely recommend.
