K'NEX Dragon's Revenge Thrill Coaster - 578 Parts - Roller Coaster Toy - Ages 7 & Up

My 7 year old son and I built this together. After the first few pages of instructions, he told me "I've got this. I can do this by myself." Well, that was a somewhat optimistic assessment, but after puzzling through the assembly booklet (why are the pictures have to be so small?), we finally got it assembled and working. Once that happens, it's a perpetual motion machine and very satisfying. I agree with the reviews, that having a few extra pieces on hand would be helpful. But, apart from these few criticisms and the reason I was motivated to write this review, was the sheer joy on my boy's face when he saw the little roller coaster car make its first complete loop around the track, latch on to the chain drive for the vertical trip back up to the top and then down and around again . . . and again. Yes, I also thought that there must be a camera in the front of the little car, but for a 7 year old, the animated images on the K'nex app were as good as real. I highly recommend this. A tedious build, but very rewarding and a lot of fun.

My friends kids got this from me for Christmas. They were suuuper into it. I ended up going most of it for them. I played with knex growing up and they used to be a lot more sturdy. Now they are smaller and more breakable

Was missing 5 pieces but found ways to work around it. Took about 2.5 hours to build with my daughter. I ended up finding some things I did not like and making some changes to the original design which suited my lack of 5 pieces. It runs just fine though and provided hours of fun for an inexpensive but cool and educational toy. I will probably take it down in a few weeks and give to a friend, then I may just buy another... Addition: After a few hours of running it stopped getting through the loop. I used some mineral oil on the car wheels and its fantastic now, and much quieter than it was when new. Id recommend it whether youre getting through the loop or not

This is a pretty cool building set for our first k’nex product! I purchased this for my best friend’s son (11) and it is pretty advanced to build. It took both of us (age 37 and 50) about a total of 3 to 4 hours, with some breaks to get this thing together...my buddy is the smartest guy I know and several times we had to study the diagrams within the instruction book to understand what we were supposed do and where to connect the parts. Some of the instructions seem like you need a degree in engineering to understand...just be patient!

This is a super fun Knex set. However too complicated as an independent build for our 9 year old dragon loving daughter. The instructions aren’t all that clear, and it took my husband and I around 5 hours helping her assemble. Once it is up and running, it is entertaining! We definitely won’t be disassembling this set because it took so darn long to put together.

This set is great. Its been running continuously for an hour and my son is glued to it. The shaft that holds the gear that cranks the dragons wings was deflecting, so I took some extra K'nex I had to turn it from a cantilevered shaft to having support on both sides of the gear. Made it a lot quieter. I wish K'nex made some of the giant sets they used to.

You know the saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me," the K'nex product line for roller coasters are just bad. I owned the ORIGINAL K'nex roller coast when it first came out in 1999/2000 and that kit was amazing. The structure was solid, designed well and could run for DAYS with out issue. However, the quality of K'nex is no longer what made them awesome. I bought the Blizzard Blast coaster brand new at a yard sale and it worked but only after a few cycles, then the car keeps bottoming out. I don't get why it bottoms when I followed the directions clearly. So my son loves K'nex and I bought this lizard one as a gift for my son for his birthday and yet again I am met with a bad product. I would not recommend buying this or future K'nex products. You will be met with disappointment and hear are my reasons. First, the directions are confusing and unclear to begin with. ESPECIALLY, when it comes to the track assembly. Those do not make sense and are very unclear. We both struggle when the design requires unique bends or upside down parts. I think a re-engineering of basic mounting requirements for all track pieces are key. Second, better structural support would be better. MANY of these rollercoaster designs are badly engineered. The track and framing wobbles and moves, which results in the car loosing what little kinetic energy it has that requires it to complete the course. Third, this lizard coaster kit while nice for its compact design had a bad design element at the end that seemed to be just haphazardly put together at the end. It looks like the designer ran over budget and simply cut off another section that may have been planned. After this purchase, I will no longer buy K'nex roller coasters. I have been repeatedly disappointed with the outcome and tired of being let down. Nothing is more disheartening and disappointing than seeing your sons face of sadness and defeat because he cannot get the coaster to complete its course.

Assembly is tedious and instructions must be followed exactly so take your time. Was missing one piece for the motor assembly but was still able to make it work. Great toy and good value for the money.

Mijn zoon van 8 jaar is met hulp van mij en zijn oudere broer uren zoet geweest met dit te bouwen. De instructies zijn helaas op bepaalde slecht te volgen. Bijv wat is de boven of onderkant van de rails? Welke precieze lengt van de onderdelen heb je op bepaalde plekken nu precies nodig? En hoe zit de tekening nu echt in elkaar. Hierdoor looping in eerste instantie verkeerd gelegd. En zo nog wat issus. Ketting was te lang. Linkje eruit gehaald, toen ging het. De kleine onderdelen op lastige plekken hebben zo nu en dan pijn aan vingers en handen opleverd. Mijn zoon is een doorzetter dus haalde dingen uit elkaar en ging dan weer verder, ook als hij zich had bezeerd. Maar had me niet verbaasd als hij ergens was afgehaakt....de baan heeft het helaas maar 2 avond gedaan. De volgende ochtend haalde het karretje de looping steeds niet. Meerdere dingen geprobeerd aan te passen, niets hielp. Zoon erg teleurgesteld na alle uren die hij erin heeft gestopt. Ook 'pakt' het karretje de rails/loopband helaas niet uit zichzelf. Het gaat te snel en dan botst hij als het ware. Soms deed hij 2 rondjes achter elkaar. De rails zijn ook wat slapjes. Daardoor komt er misschien te veel speling bij gebruik. Al met al had ik hem een leukere ervaring gegund dan dit.

Missing parts, damaged box. Seems like it was used and returned. Waste of $100 and sucks because Santa brought this for him.

It is very hard to build even for us adults, we also found because you have to bend the track yourself to get it to go round that no matter what we did the cart stopped before the last part of the track. Bought it for a boy with autism and in all honesty it lasted 5 minutes it's very flimsy.
