Black Beauty Dense Shade Grass Seed - 25 lb | Grows Well in Medium to Densely Shaded Areas

Takes awhile to germinate but does grow and looks great in heavily shaded areas.

I am so happy about the results of this seed mixture! It began germinating in 2 weeks, just as it said. The first pic is before I got results.I am now at week 3, and it continues to grow and spread. Some areas grew before others. Slow, but sure. The water was key.The green color is so rich and vibrant! The quality of the blades is definitely better than my existing grass. I failed to put the accompanying fertilizer down, because I did not see this recommendation until after I received the shipment and read the instructions. I will do that when I seed again in the fall.I did this myself. Because it is still fairly cool, I chanced doing this in mid to late May. I checked the10-day forecast first.I tilled the ground specifically in spots where the grass was gone completely, and just lightly mixed it in with other saturated areas. I used my hand to throw the seeds down versus my seeding barrow in order to better concentrate on the bare spots. I watered it no less than every other day until the rains conveniently came. I tried to time it that way.I was so excited when I saw grass peeping!I have a corner that is very shady in the front due to lots of trees. Had bare spots for along time until I decided to take charge of my embarrassing yard.This is working perfectly! I look forward to seeing it in 6 weeks! Cutting it soon. As you have to wait a bit. It will need another pass to get the density I ultimately want.Definitely buying this again!

It started off good and purchased another bag! Now all of it stopped growing and died! Do not buy !

I have had good results with this brand of grass seed in an area with larger mature trees that gets no direct sunlight. Great product and worth the few extra bucks you pay for it over lesser brands.

The bag I bought has the following seeds:20% Montana Tall Fescue20% Taos Tall Fescue20% Frontier Perennial Rye grass15% Hood Chewings Fescue15% Eugene Creeping Red Fescue10% DeepBlue Kentucky BluegrassThis is way too much Tall Fescue for my taste. I mixed these seeds with another bag of a blended pure Fine Fescue. I only bought 1 pound of this mix. As such I will not be able to tell if this particular seed will do well. I can say it germinates fast, but considering the blend, I find it extremely expensive for about 5 oz of Fine Fescue seed. Of course these percentages are by weight, not seeds, but even so it is recommend that you use 100% Fine Fescue (or Rough Bluegrass) for deep shade, and 4 pounds of that per 1000 sq feet. 4 oz is not really going to cut it, then add for some strange reason they included Bluegrass, which has a worst shade tolerance than Tall Fescue. All in all, I gave it three stars, as I will not be able to tell if it it is working, like my previous tall fescue, it should look great until summer rolls around again, and the shade kills it, and it has great reviews. But saying that I recommend you get another brand that actually contains more fine fescue (deep shade) seed

The grass seed grows fast and thick in shaded areas. There were a couple bare spots which I reseeded. I am extremely happy with the results and have purchased more seed.

I have used many different types of grass seed but this has to be the best for dense shade lawns. It took a little longer than other seed I've used but totally worth the wait.

No germination after 3 weeks! Tried another shade seed brand and it sprouted in 7 days and filled in nicely by the 3rd week. Wouldn't buy this brand again.

So far no grass but maybe too cold? Will try again in the spring

this grass seed was for areas of my lawn which on both sides have trees which are dark areas. i have just looked at the growth today and there is hardly any grass there. all in all this was purchased to give growth in my dark areas and it did not do that. it was quite expensive as well .

shadey side of house with trees covering would not grow grass until this stuff! great product, came up quickly and has grown nicely!

Very fast germination & coverage however does not survive the UAE summer 😑
