Dupli-Color Metal Specks Metallic Coating, Retro Red, 11 oz

This is the "coolest" spray paint ever! Covers blemishes. Irradiated. Beautiful.

It's a learning curve on applying, covered nice with no running, but if you hold the can further away the results are a lighter blue. I had to respray my gas tank. Unlike other paints do not wet sand before applying clearcoat, you will disrupt the metal flakes. I waited 3 days before applying the clearcoat. I used Spraymax 2K clearcoat. Considering I'm a novice, it turned out really good.

I'm pretty pleased with this paint, especially considering it's a rattle can. I was curious about the results using different base colors. I did a quick test using identical pieces, one primed flat black and another unprimed with its original beige color. The black primed piece is on the left. For my purposes, I sort of like the beige base better but honestly, with a second coat it isn't likely to make a huge difference. The coverage is good and it seemed to exit the can evenly. No runs, no uneven bursts. I applied it outdoors in low humidity, temps around 65-70°F, on an overcast afternoon with no breeze. I also bought a can of the green to try. After good results with the red I'm optimistic about this product in other colors for my needs.

Really good paint, love the color and the metal flake look. Bought 2 cans and discovered the spray nozzles are terrible. In addition to a spray they produce splatters of small drops making it almost impossible to obtain a smooth finish. Huge disappointment and a ruined finish.

Since this paint is normally considered to be used for cars, it seemed likely it would do well on our vintage metal outdoor furniture. To be fair, the glider and chair were covered with rust such that it gave an overall rough finish to work with, plus the former owner had used silver spray paint on them many years before. The surface paint and rust were steel-brushed off and rust reformer applied, before applying the Ocean Blue Metal Specks. The picture does not do justice to the color and the subtle sparkling, and the fact that the surface isn't perfectly smooth probably affects the effect, too. Considering the age of the metal and the depth of the corrosion of years, the fact that little rust spots still pop through, especially in the curves where moisture collects, is probably to be expected, so I may be wishing for magic where it cannot be. Overall, I am pleased enough with this paint that I bought more for the touch-up, and will likely do so again.

My husband discovered this color originally at an Autozone. He is always getting cars and fixing them up/making them look nice. A lot of cars he's working with are for show or the tracks which with those cars they take out the whole entire engine and then paint the engine bay so it "pops" and looks clean/neat. He always is suggesting this color because it's a deep dark blue that when the light shines/hits it there's tiny tiny flecks of silver making this color pop like crazy! Especially when used in engine bays on black cars, gray, white ect. It's a very unique looking color. Autozone unfortunately stopped carrying it and it's become impossible to find any stores locally with it at all or if in stock has 2-3 cans tops in stock. Depending on car size some bays can take up to 6-8 cans of spray paint to have an even, smooth looking finish. Thankfully Amazon carries this particular color and he's able to order 6 cans at a time. If your a blue color lover that pops I highly suggest this one. The cover on the can in picture does no justice. It is that dark, but it sparkles much more.

I used this to paint my son's pinewood derby car. It came out beautiful. I recommend for a deep gloss, to add the clear coat over it. This paint is finicky - make sure you have perfect conditions, no wind, no dust blowing. It also makes a LOT of overspray dust. If you spray this indoors, like a garage or shop, the red dust will cling to everything in a 20' radius. But the end result is great! Lots of thin coats.

Really looks grest!! Used this to repaint my golf cart, add some high gloss topcoat and wow, the results are great!!
