Does this have a pause/freeze function?

Can I use this projector on Starboard or smartboard?

Yes you can use it but it doesn't provide function, but note that it is not as bright as some of the higher end models and does not integrate with touch software it is merely a projector. Very high quality resolution for the price.

I need a projector that will show documents with very little glare on a classroom whiteboard. Would this do the job?

Not really, it doesn't display well on white surfaces. Epson has projectors specifically designed for classrooms. try the "EPSON POWERLITE 675W ULTRA SHORT THROW CLASSROOM PROJECTOR " it's cheaper than this one because it doesn't have as much features but if you just using it to present documents you don't need many of the features this projector offers. You don't need the wall mounted like you see in the images it works on a table as well.
