what is used to replace the foot so you have a better swiss arca foot & still maintain the height ?????

The reason to switch the foot is generally to decrease the height for better stability. I went with the jobu LF-N604 foot for the Nikon 600 AF-S f4

what tripod are you using??

I am using the Really Right Stuff TVC-33 and a Wemberly gimble head. The tripod is heavy enough for my 800 mm lens also but not excessively heavy for short carrying in the field. I like the variable leg endings for rock placement and it still will reduce in height for macro pics in the field.
