Great purchase at great price point
This review might be helpful specifically to customers living and biking in NYC. I recently purchased a bike. In fairness, my bike was purchased used and is a basic Giant women's bike. But it's in great shape and definitely an attraction for thieves. I've been using this lock for two weeks now. Here is a list of pros and cons:Pros:- Flex cable is great in securing both wheels- In order to get through the lock, a thief would have to cut both sides of the "U"- Built-in protector for wear and tear of keyhole against weather elements- Unbeatable price point for the whole package- Lock bracket provided- Doesn't weigh a lot (compared to other U-locks)- Once secured, the whole contraption looks formidable and is hopefully a deterrent for thievesCons:- The lock bracket is of low utility if you also want to secure the flex cable along with the U-lock- The velcro strap provided to secure flex cable was not great. It's already tornOther observations on U-locks in general:- My bike is a step through (not a diamond frame). It is hard to really find a place for the lock bracket, so it's kind of useless to me (but this would be true of all U-locks). So I just secure the U-lock around the bike handle- You might want to buy a bigger size if securing in NYC. I am able to manage with this lock and flex cable, and I did not want the extra weight of a bigger lock. But sometimes it is challenging to fit the "U" around street bike racks and I spend a few minutes doing thatOverall, a great purchase. If bike gets stolen despite this lock and cable, that's just bad luck. I would recommend and would also consider buying again if I am in need of another lock.

Don't overpay for a bike lock again!
tl;dr: This is a GREAT bike lock at a FRACTION of the cost of similar brands.I live in Eugene, Oregon, the second highest area for bike theft after New York City, so having a high quality lock is ESSENTIAL.I spent a week researching locks, brands, styles, etc. at both in-person retail stores and online. After testing out dozens of locks, I purchased 2 to try at home - the Sigtuna U-Lock combo and a (nearly) identical $140 Krypotite lock. It took me exactly 5 minutes to realize the $40 Sigtuna combo was the superior product. It's tough, sturdy, and most importantly, SECURE. No bike lock is full-proof, but this lock is so well-designed that any bike thief is going to pass me by because it would take hours, and some serious machinery, to try and break this lock.If you want to mount the lock to your bike: be aware that because of the size of the "U", it likely won't fit a smaller bike and/or a step thru frame. My daily ride is an XS step thru hybrid and the lock is too big to mount anywhere on the frame. That's not a problem for me because I simply throw my lock in my pannier while riding. The mount and lock fits my husbands medium-size mountain bike (with a traditional "high" bar). Don't let that discourage you from buying this lock - all similar brands/sizes will have the same issue in this size range.I've been using this lock daily for about 4 weeks now and I'm so happy with the product.

Nice lock, works well, seems secure. Heavy but not overly so.
I wanted to upgrade my bike lock (actually, one of my bike locks - I use two U-locks in the city) to one that was thicker and - more important - has dual locking mechanisms so that two cuts would be required to remove the lock. The Sigatuna is a bit thicker, and has the dual locking mechanism (there seems to be some controversy as to whether its really 16mm or whether that is padded by the plastic coat on the steel - I don't know the answer). I thought the reviews here were encouraging so ordered it.I've been quite happy with it for the 1 month I've had it. Its a bit heavier than my other U-lock (Krypto-Lok) but definitely not "too heavy". And I suspect its much better security. The key has been easy to turn - something that was a problem with the other Master U lock I had that this replaced.I don't use the frame mounting bracket so can't comment on that - I have a rat-trap carrier and I keep it in that secured with a bungee cord. And I actually don't use the cable - and I think its generally a bad idea because all of them are easily cut. I have found that a much more convenient and secure way is to have two U locks. So I have this as my "heavy duty" lock, and a Krypto-Lok as my secondary one (and which fits through the perforations on my helmet allowing that to be securely locked to the bike). A second U lock is so much more convenient to carry than a cumbersome cable. I have the Kryptonite lock mounted to the frame, and keep the Sigatuna lock in the rat-trap carrier. It doesn't offer theft protection insurance - but that doesn't bother me. (1) My bike isn't worth that much - less than the deductible! Well, its wort a lot to me, but not money. (2) Somehow I suspect that the fine print on all those bike lock insurance plans are smarter than most bicyclists - and I rather doubt they really ever pay.

Finest Schloss!
I did the research and found your U lock (Series U Wodan 16) to have very good reviews from other cyclist. I have a new bike and I really wanted to make sure that it was safe in most any environment, city or urban. I live in a pretty safe area now but this is also an investment in the future. The lock is easy to use and to mount to my bike frame. Although it is a bit heavy it is very easy to carry in my pack or mounted to the frame. I don't always use the cable that comes with it but it is a great option if I need to leave my bike longer in a higher crime area. I have figured out the best way to lock my bike with both the cable and without and it is really quick and definitely secure. It came with three keys. At first I thought the key hole was damaged because I could not slide the sleeve to show the hole. It was stiff but now loose and I really like that it provides a cover to protect from dirt or rain. The velcro on the cable is a great option too as I have often strapped it to the U lock itself to carry as I ride. There are a lot of great things about this lock and the only thing that I don't like is the button clip that allows the lock to be removed from the frame attachment. After many uses it seems to be more loose and shakes as I ride. The red plastic button doesn't have the best quality. Another annoying thing is getting the key to unlock. The key hole and key are fine but some reason it takes a little fiddling each time I want to unlock it. I have to push the key in hard or wiggle it. The lock or keyhole aren't broken just annoying as I have to mess with it each time for a minute to get it to unlock.

Substantial lock, fragile mounting bracket, great customer service!
I used to own a coil lock to secure my bike. That pretty thick cable was cut clean with little to no effort and my $300 bike was gone for good! That is exactly the reason why I bought this lock - something more secure and substantial. The product arrived as described. The shackle feels really solid and the lock is quite strong. It would obviously require considerable effort to break this thing! The additional cable is really handy when you want to add another level of security, especially you leave your bike in a theft-prone area. The mounting slot in the shackle can be rotated to give you various mounting positions on bike frame. However - and this is the reason why I'm taking a star off - you should and must be careful when installing the plastic mount because mine broke while I was trying to fit it onto my bike frame. The plastic was really stiff. I tried to be careful, but it still came apart. So I have to put the lock around my bike frame instead of mounting it in order to carry it around. But please don't let that missing star deter you from getting this truly solid, near-perfect product with such an unbeatable price!UPDATE...Really pleased with the customer service. A representative was quick to address the issue and offered to send me a new mounting bracket to me. 5 stars all the way for the great after-sale service!

Solid Lock, Worth the money, would recommend
My requirement is to get a lock under $30. After browsing through several options, shortlisted 2 finally.1. SIGTUNA Bike locks - 16mm U Lock with Steel Chain Cable2. Kryptonite Kryptolok Series-2 Mini-7 with Steel Chain CableInitially I thought I would go with Kryptolok as its sleek to fit it in the bike. But after trying out both, I decided to go with SIGTUNA itself.- Though SIGTUNA is bulkier than Kryptolok, in terms of both lock head and the shackle, it didn't look that bulkier when you put on the bike. Also heavier it is, more safer it is!- SIGTUNA is wider than Kryptolok, which helps to lock the wheel with the frame and the pole easily and comfortably.- SIGTUNA locks on both the side of the shackle (Double Deadbolt locking), while the Kryptolok has a bent foot design on one end. My understanding is, it requires to cut on both the sides to release the lock, while on Kryptolok its enough to cut on one side and the shackle releases automatically on the bent foot side. However, few small issues / concerns..- The mounting system is made of plastic. I'm not sure how long it will hold the lock. Also, it is not sturdy and wobbles a lot when you mount the lock.- The mounting system cannot be mounted on the horizontal bar of my bike, as it had a cable on the bottom for the read breaks.- The lock is not that smooth. Sometimes it gets stuck and need to retry couple of times.- The Key Hole Cover is not that great. Feels like cheap plastic.- May be the lock head could have been less bulkier for the 16mm shackles.SIGTUNA Vs Kryptolok- Steel Shackle: 16mm vs 13mm- Weight: 3.75 lbs vs 2.75 lbs- Number of Keys: 3 vs 2- Cable Length: Both are 120 cm (4 ft)PS: Amazon prize might be different for Kryptolok. Found in REI for $25.Shortly, I would not complain the lock for the money! Definitely would go for it and recommend the same.

Much better than I expected
First, I don't usually write reviews, but it works so surprisingly well, I felt compelled. This lock is more solid (and a bit bigger) than I assumed. Usually with U-Lock sort of things, I need a cable + the lock to actually use it, because they are too small to actually lock to things. I picked this one because it came with a decent-looking cable, but honestly, for me, it's not really needed. The size is perfect, as it is. Not so big it weighs me down, or gets in the way, but big enough to lock to most things, with daily use. I just use the actual lock (mount fit perfectly on my ebike, even though the bar is a bit bigger than standard) , and I keep the cable in my gear bag (not always brought with me, but will be good if I need to lock to something non-standard.)The only thing I would change is maybe the color-options. It's bright yellow, and although it's mostly black, yellow is not really my color (I like all-black stuff.) But even with that, it's probably a bit more effective with a bright color to draw the eyes of thieves, so they see it's going to be a lot of trouble, and they should just move on to another bike. When I bought it, I would have been fine with the lock not being super-solid, kinda small, or the mount not fitting right, or even the quality being kinda low (I sort of expected it, at this price) but everything just worked great. It's tough and solid, and this will last me years. Very glad I bought it.

It's cumbersome, HEAVY, inflexible and frustrating - but it works
I'm sure it's a good lock - but it's kind of a pain: sometimes the Shackle (U bar) doesn't nest properly if the mechanism with the crossbar has moved a bit, and if the spline (adjustable sliding piece to attach to bracket ) moves the U Bar also doesn't nest properly - okay, that probably just takes a bit of practice. While the cable is helpful, it's a pain to transport - my bike can't use the mount (folding bike, wide Top, Down tubes, the seat Tube needs to bge free to telescope and retract) I secure my lock on the rack, stayed with a bungee and wrap the cable around the seat tube) - it works but a mess...and then I went to use it: awkward and cumbersome - where do you put the crossbar while figuring where to put the Shackle? and because it's so inflexible, you better hope there's a thin pole nearby - unless you want to secure it with the cable - which would probably work in most cases but who wants to do that after lugging the fricken U lock - and it's much less protected that way. I'll revisit this after using it a few times.UPDATE: - okay, so the Velcro for the cable tore and the mounting rack allows the lock to swivel back and forth, slamming into my leg. I've secured it with Velcro I had in the house and will try a mini bungee cord, but the mount stinkaroos and and should be fixed - dropping down to three stars2nd UPDATE If you look at the picture below, you can see I now store the cable within the U Bolt and use a piece of velcro to secure the lock to my frame to prevent swinging - also, as I get used to it, securing my bike to a lamp post or sign is much easier - I'm putting this back to four starsTHIRD UPDATE - THE LOCK FAILED THIS MORNING - JUST REFUSED TO OPEN LEAVING ME IN QUITE A BIND. IT'S BEEN DOWNGRADED TO POS

Good value for money
I use that lock for about 9 months and my bike has not been stolen, so that's a good sign!! 😄 However, when it is locked, it wiggles a bit. I don't know if it is normal.

Klasse Schloss!
