Titanic has truely touched many of our hearts and brings forth several emotions that we just cant seem to let loose. The once thought "unsinkable" ship was hit by an iceburg, causing it to sink from excess water from the hole it created upon impact. Thousands lost their lives and the ship was destroyed.This coin recognizes the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic sinking (1912-2012). On the front of the coin is a remarkable and highly etched drawing of the ship itself. So much work and dedication for a coin its size. And on the back...is were it gets COAL (pun intended). The back of the coin holds 100% authentic coal recovered from Titanic itself! Researchers brought it up during the Titanic Research and Exibition in 2000 and encased it in the coin. Great for a Titanic collector
My brother is a HUGE titanic collector and every year it gets harder and harder to find him things he would like and doesn't already have. He loved that this is actual coal from the Titanic so they obviously can't manufacture more and I felt better buying it knowing there was a certificate of authenticity with it. And it's a beautiful coin on the other side!
