Does the device come with a male-to-male turnaround adapter?

Yes it comes with a turnaround.

I understand this can be used to test and control dmx devices. but can it also be used to troubleshoot dmx signals from a dmx controller?

I stand corrected...this device can be used to troubleshoot dmx signals through the use of a gender changer. The only other problem I've found is that many fixtures have 3pin XLR connectors..so a 5pin-3pin XLR adaptor is required to connect to these fixtures.
