Capturing Archetypes: Twenty Years of Sideshow Collectibles Art

What first drew me to this book was the amazing cover of the Aliens sculpture and it's attention to detail. I was hoping the rest of the book would capture (no pun intended) the detail of other sculptures and I was not let down. I have a few of Sideshow's figures (more like statues) and was happy to see a couple of them included! I would recommend this book to any lover of action figures, sculptures, and scifi/comic book movies. Will have it on my coffee table for years to show all my friends!

Sideshow has given us many masterpieces over the years , this book is a celebration of those works of art. Some amazing high quality photos have been included. I wish this would have small write ups on the characters as well . Bar that this would make a great addition to any collectors bookcase.

I am giving this book five stars, I really enjoyed going through the book and the attention to detail, I may not be able to purchase all the Archetypes but at least I have this cool book.

It's obvious a lot of effort went into the making of this book, however I must agree with the other Amazon reviewers; it is a disappointing collection of photos that do not show these amazing sculptures clearly.The art directors of this book went for an "artsy" and "moody" approach to the photos that have the artwork obscured by shadow or show only a small portion of the piece for dramatic effect.They should have devoted a few pages in the back of the book that has a few smaller photos of each piece more clearly displayed.It may be a good "coffee table book" for the casual viewer, but certainly not one for a collector that desires a true reference.
