This is to keep the box from bouncing around inside the car. I believe I stuck mine to the back of the tail light housing on my daughters mustang. That may not be the recommended way but if I remember correctly, there was not much room to put it anywhere else. I recently replaced my truck lights with LEDs as well and there was plenty of space so I stuck the box to the inside body panel. Hope this helps.
