Sooo Expensive
Good, but so pricey, ingredients not that rare. To lessen the blow - try alternating with a dermatologist approved moisturising cream, often 5x cheaper.

Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money, the product does absolutely nothing! My bottles arrived and looked used, cream spread on outside and someone had tried to wipe it. I don’t know if these bottles are meant to be sealed but they were not.

I am 47 and I have suffered from anal itching since at least my 20's, if not my teens. Sometimes it would go away for a while, always to return. I didn't know what caused it. And if you look up pruritis ani (the medical term for it), there are dozens of causes. Over the years I thought I had worms, fungal infections, you name it. I tried everything. I got the best relief from prescription steroid cream, but shortly after stopping the cream, the itching would come back. And steroid creams aren't safe for long term use. They can thin the skin. And lest you think this is a minor annoyance, I wanted to shove a wire brush up my backside. That's how bad it is. It is a serious quality of life issue. Well, sometime in my mid-40's I figured out what my problem was. I am apparently sensitive to even a molecule of stool being left on my skin. Because I got news for you. You wipe with toilet paper. And after a few wipes, there's no more smudges on the toilet paper. It looks clean. But there's still A LOT of stool still on your skin. Now, a lot of people are not sensitive to that. But based on these reviews there are lots of people who are, and I'm one of them. And this lotion is a lifesaver. I'm always amazed every time I use it. I wipe until the toilet paper is clean. Then I put a dab of this on some toilet paper and wipe. There'll be A LOT of stool come off onto the paper. WTF? Where was this stool hiding out? In the nooks and crannies of the anus? I'm always amazed. Here's a tip for the ladies: We're supposed to wipe from front to back to avoid getting fecal bacteria into the vaginal area. But I find that most of my itching happened at the part of the anus closest to the vagina, and if I use the Balneol from back to front, I can get more of the stool off. I think all the folds and whatnot at that part of my anus trap more stool. Be careful to stop before you go to far, but I do find that if I do a couple wipes from back to front (while doing most of them from front to back like I'm supposed to), I get all the stool off and the itching is a distant memory.

I struggled for years to find a remedy for anal itching. I thought I had hemorrhoids, pinworms, or a dozen other possible causes. The intensity of the itching often kept me up at night. And appeared many times throughout the day, particularly while walking. I eventually just accepted it and lived with it for roughly a decade, maybe more. So many times, I'd be in a nice conversation or out for a nice walk, but inside I was shaken in the chest by the intense itching. Since I had come to live with this, I didn't think of ever mentioning it to my wife. It was simply part of my daily existence. Then, one night while laying in bed she saw me flinch seemingly out of nowhere. She asked what was wrong and I explained the itching and how often it occurred. "What! How can you live with this?" She asked. She went to work on trying to figure out the causes. We started trying dozens of products with no luck. We tried hemorrhoid creams, sitz bath, apple cider vinegar, fiber, and so many other things. Then, my wife overheard someone in a podcast mention they had something vaguely similar to my condition. This person remedied it with Balneol. So, we bought it. I began using it. It wasn't immediate relief for me, but within 5 days my itching vanished. I no longer itched at all! That was almost a year ago. I have never had any problems as I continue to use Balneol. Any one experiencing anal itching will know how much of a blessing this is. From the restless nights, to the interrupted conversations, or vacations, or even just reading a book. This is one of the few products that I can say has truly improved my quality of life. I sincerely hope if others are suffering from what I had, that they find a cure and move on with their lives. Even more so, I hope it's something as simple as this lotion.

I went to my Gastroenterologyst for some ailment in the neither part... I clear, I have had an itch there since about 30 years that is associated with hemorrhoids. I told her that I have tried lots of products, some efficient but having the tendency to thin out the skin and make things potentially worst in a long term, some completely useless. I then proceeded to explain her that had made my own ointment with honey and some baby cream that was apparently working but a bit messy to apply. She then told me: I have the answer for you and you are going to love me for suggesting it: Balneol. So I went and bought one bottle in Walgreen and thought immediately that the bottle was small and expensive at about $20 the bottle. Which brought me to my usual answer when searching for cheaper prices: Amazon... It is indeed cheaper with Amazon... And I was suprised to see almost only glowing reviews about it. Anyway, after this long introduction, onto the product review: What I like: - It smells good, like Nivea cream - It is not greasy - It is not sticky - It is not messy - You only need a little at a time so the bottle last much longer than I would have thought. - It is easy to apply - IT WORKS! Meaning, it relieves itches and help the skin to heal. What I like less: - It is not cheap In conclusion: If you have like me been searching for an answer to itches: Do not search anymore, try Balneol...

I liked the clean, perfumed scent. The bottle is small enough it can be carried around (even in a pants pocket for short while), so it can be used discretely. The press-top cap (not the one pictured in the Amazon photos) makes it easy to control the amount used. The lotion is slightly thicker than a non-soap hydrating cleanser, if that matters to you, and you do not need a lot of it. The feel of the product was good, but it was not any more soothing, comforting or effective than a non-soap cleanser (either a facial or a body hydrating cleanser). Unfortunately the price per ounce is about 4-5 times that of a non-soap cleanser, either a facial hydrating cleanser or a body hydrating cleanser. Before you buy this think of what a 3.5 oz. container is (less than half a cup!). Tread carefully if you have chemical sensitivities, as it is heavily scented. (Happily the scent doesn't linger; the concern is only about sensitive skin). Bottom line? Although the product is very good, it is not special and not worth the very high price premium.
