I used to use Clairol Nice and Easy but my husband constantly complained about the smell. It was pretty bad. I also didn't like the color for the first week after I used it. It would take a couple of washings for it to settle into my hair. I saw an ad for Madison Reed and decided to try it. No smell, no harsh ingredients and gluten free! The color is beautiful the first day. I feel like it is better quality for my hair and worth spending a little bit more. Still cheaper than going to a salon!Cons: It is more money than Nice and Easy. I also don't like that I have to leave it on for 45 minutes. I have some grey and it really struggles to cover the greys. I used to use a shade lighter, but Madison Reed recommended I go a shade darker to cover the greys better.
